okay so i heard that all kittens are born with worms. So if you were to get a kitten and did not deworm it yet, are these "worms" contagious to humans?

Not all kittens are born with worms, but many do pick them up in infancy (Almost all puppies are born with worms.)
Yes, "worms" are contagious to humans. Actually, there are many types of worms, some of which are contagious to humans and some are not, but the most common types for kittens and puppies are contagious.
For this reason and many others, its important for all new pets to be seen by a vet as soon as possible after bringing them home.
In the mean time, simple good hygiene will prevent you from picking up worms from your kitten. Wash your hands after handling her and before eating. Do not allow her on the table, counter or other food prep areas. Be sure to enforce the hand washing rule with any children in the house - they are the ones who most easily pick up worms because they tend to touch pets, floors, dirty areas and then put hands in their mouth or grab something to eat.

Okay, well I know that worms are contagious to humans, and you should definitely deworm your kitten.

And I'm Level 1...so I'm not allowed to rate answers yet...but whoever answered a few answers above me and said that worms itch...guess what? Nobody wants to know, and it's gross!

Yes, you can get roundworms from cats. So deworming is important.

Kassie: Ringworms are not actually worms. It is a skin infection caused by fungus. Does not have anything to do with worms at all.:)

Yes. Roundworms, the most common, are contagous to people. Especially kids. This is the reason they tell you not to have an uncovered sandbox outside for your kids.

Worming is cheap and effective!!!!! WORM THE KITTEN!!!
