I got the injection about a week ago and my neck feels pretty good but I have had a pain in my left shoulder blade since the injection. Is this normal or has anyone else had this issue? The injection was in my lower neck not my shoulder.

usually if the injection was in the neck it should assist the neck problem. However, remember while you were waiting for the shot, chances are you were holding your head in a certain position as not to feel pain and chances are the muscles in the shoulder became tense, therefore you have to allow for the readjustment now your neck is back in the correct position.

I am going through a course of epidural injections and each time I get this horrible cramping in my shoulder blade. As my Chiropractor explained it, if you have problems with C-5-C-7 the pain often extends from the neck to the shoulder blade. When you get a nerve block or epidural injection, those muscles start to go into a spasm.

The pain in my shoulder is burning and sort of cramping. It actually is more painful then my neck problem.
I've been going to a Chiropractor to have him use Ultra-sound and electric stimulation. This is supplemented by going for massage therapy and having the just the neck and shoulder blade (trapezius and lattisumus dorsi muscles) worked on. You can also reach across your chest with your right arm and try to massage the area yourself.

Use a heating pad. Take Tylenol to bring down the inflammation. If the spasms in your shoulder get really bad, you may need to contact your doctor to have him prescribe muscle relaxants.

I can really sympathize with this, because I am going through the exact same thing!!!

This has happened to me before from sleeping on my side, it made my upper body out of place and in sort of need of an adjustment. You can do a couple of things. Sit on a chair with a low back and then stretch backwards over the chair to try to sort of "crack" it into place. Or you can try stretching movies by using your arm on a wall then stretching the shoulder blade/chest in the opposite direction. Sometimes you hear a "pop" and it pops back into place or you keep stretching it and it'll eventually feel better. A chiropractor may not be a bad thing. I love them, went on and off since I was a kid. Other issues you can look into as well: If you think it's an actual muscle pull (which would hurt like none other) then see a doctor for an MRI or something to look at tears and while you're there make sure they rule out any heart problems. As far as creams: I would skip that b/c that just covers up the problem and too much cream (daily use) can cause death (it happened to a teenager recently). If you go the cream route, I'd say natural Arnica oil or cream is good.
