Well I had a argument with my mom the other day.
At times she can be very predijuce, sometimes even racist.
It hurts me to see that my mothers views, are so diffrent then my own. Not only that but, so twisted and ignorant. She believes that is isn't right to date another "race." She believe so because it was "in the Bible." First of all there is no such thing. The only race there is is the human race, we all have came from Africa and have migrated over the years and our skin tones have changed to adapt to the climates of the regions. And the bible has no such thing. It tells the exact opposite. God loves diversity, and tells us not to disrminate but to love others as we would love ourselves. Is there any verses in the Bibe, or anything that I could do or say to convine my mother that there is no diffrences between any of us? It literaliy brings me to tears knowing my own mother can be so blind.

Thank you

I think you can agree to disagree with mom on this one. It is true that we all come from Adam, and there really is no prohibition against marrying people of other races, but the fact remains that there are other races now, and each possesses thier own culture and ways. The only stipulation I could really see is that one must date or marry those of same faith. After all, what do pagans and Christians have in common? But as for races, the Bible says that God set the people in their varieties in particular places of the world so that mankind would seek him. We are very much now a one world system with all kinds of mix, so it would be hard to see how location makes any difference now. Consider the following verses as you consider this topic, and be graceful with your mom. She isn't in sin because she disagrees, but she could be more open if she does not.

Acts 17:26-27
"From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us."

1 Cor 15:21-23
"For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him."

Gal 3:28-29
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Col 3:11
"Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all."

Consider too, that apparently Moses married a black woman:

Num 12:1, 9-10
" Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite..."
"The anger of the LORD burned against them, and he left them. When the cloud lifted from above the Tent, there stood Miriam--leprous, like snow."

I have searched every where in the bible on this subject and I couldn't find any thing. I do not believe that God sees color. Be careful cause you don't want to mix religions. Other wise I think it is ok to date outside of your race. I don't know what to say to be able to help you with your mom. If you are still living at home then you will have to obey by her rules. Just keep praying for your mom. Is there anyone you can talk to in your church about this? Maybe the pastor or a Sunday school teacher.

I'm not too familiar with the Bible, so I cannot help you, but I can understand where you are coming from. You seem like an open minded and accepting person, while your mother might be the opposite. Have you tried talking to her about her views? Ask her why she feels this way, would God really tell people to treat others differently because of their skin color?!

Don't be so hard on your mom. She evidently subscribes to the Old Testament with the Covenant God made with Abraham and disregards the new Covenant God made with the Gospel of Christ. The "old" is like a contract God with Israel (the Jewish nation). He demanded they keep their race/nation/faith separate from all other races/nations/pagan religions. He favored them and would be their God. He in fact favored them above all nations because He was their God. The reason was so no pagan influence would enter the families through inter marriages. They were to keep themselves pure as His nation and honor and obey only Him as God.
That all changes with the New Covenant. God opens his favor up to the gentiles, simply because the Jews, as a nation, rejected Jesus as the Messiah that God had promised to come. Honey, to deny there are races is to deny reality. There are many races, though we all originated with Adam and Eve. And God isn't as crazy about diversity as He is obedience. He loves His creation......even the ones who don't love Him. But, He put order in His creation and has His reasons for doing so. You can't see the bigger picture yet. I'm not saying your mom is right, but you owe her your respect and obedience while you are under her roof and be grateful that she cares enough about you to set some rules.

Let your mother know that Moses was married to an Ethiopian and part of the reason his brother and sister got in trouble with God was because they put him down for it. (Numbers 12). The bible says nothing about marrying other races, but is clearly against marrying people of other faiths.

personally i think it is better for people to stay within their race.

I'm not absolute in this matter however the best reason i can give is that the children have rejection from both sides of their family. i have a friend who is half black and half white he has told me that there were many difficulties being accepted in both families i think he carries it well so maby it can work out ok but it is easier to stay within your own kind.

Moses had several wives...one of them was a Cushite...a black woman.
King Solomon was part black; his mother was Bathsheba. The Queen of Sheba was black.
