Advantage and Frontline can be used on kittens this small, in fractions of the usual dose. A vet can calculate the dose for you.

I wouldn't bathe kittens this small. Kittens get chilled very easily and it exhausts them. It would be even more risky to bathe tiny kittens that have been infested with fleas and therefore are probably anemic.

Don't use any flea soap, dip, powder, etc that you can buy at a pet or grocery store on cats, especially not on kittens this small. They contain chemicals that can make an adult cat very sick and can kill kittens.

The best thing would be to take them to a vet. If they are anemic they may need an injection of vitamins to help them recover.

What about Capstar? I have pulled kittens from shelters that were 4 and 5 weeks old and given them Capstar. (not a whole tablet. You'll need to get that from a vet's office and i think the dose is either 1/4 or 1/2 tablet.) It will kill all the fleas on the kittens w/in about 20 min.

Kittens only have about 12 hours once they start having problems. They go downhill very quickly. They really need to be seen by a vet. If the fleas are that bad, they will quickly become anemic and will die.

Please encourage your friend to call her vet. You are right to be concerned.

Frontline spray. This is available from vets and some chemists, and is safe for use on kittens from 2 days of age.

I haven't read the other answers on here yet, but I suspect people will suggest washing in Dawn dish soap (pointless) combing the fleas out (you could comb 24/7 and you'd never get them all) or getting stuff from a pet store (never do that even for adult cats).

Frontline spray, it's the only safe and effective way for young kittens.

Chalice

Advantage can be used on very young kittens in extreme cases, which this sounds like. Contact the vet to get the Advantage and they can tell you the dose to use on a kitten that young. (You don't use the full dose usually just a few drops) These kittens defiantly need to be treated if they are badly infested they will develop flea anemia and could die.

If you can, give it a flea bath. Then brush it out with a flea comb until you don't get ne flea's. Be sure to ither stick the flea comb in a pot of boiling water to kill them or rinse it down the drain, with lots of water so it won't hop back up. If you have other cats, check them aswell. you can also see what medicine is okay for you kitten, and other cats if you have them.

well the kitten my be too young to put flea drops on, try giving him/her a warm semi bath (warm cloth) not to full try not to get its head wet. get a flea comb a try to take out as much as possible, comb and kill comb and kill. also becareful if you take it a bath all the fleas will basically attack its head have your comb handy, ready to comb them off dip the comb into water every time you stroke. OR you can try front line, which works very well but its can be very pricey depending where you buy it at. the flea comb is the no money old fashion way Poor baby :(

I've never tried this myself, but it might be worth buying:

I'd recommend a vet visit, but it's up to your friend of course. Good luck! :)
