Got news for you, I'm not a Jew, I'm a Christian, so I do something like worship God become human. That means a literal take on the Old Testament as the end-all and be-all of doctrine won't wash with me.

I not to sure the actual state of Israel has been around for that long for that. They were an established country after WW2, which was less than 50 years ago.

The early christians didn't worship anything but God. HOwever their religion was corrupted and lost God's approval that is when they started to worship idols.
