Last night I dreamt that I was finally moving out of my parents house. I moved out and realized I couldn't make it on my own. Then I killed myself. This is exactly what is going on in real life, and I have major depression. Am I in danger?

I'm not a kid, I'm 24. I've lived on my own for 5 years and I have a daughter. I've just had depression for so long, I haven't been able to work.

I mean I haven't been able to work lately. I held a steady job for 5 years.

My daughter's only 1. I've had it longer than I've had her.

You already know what you should do, if you came here looking for support, I will offer some, but you need to seek help anyway you can, from qualified professionals, not a bunch of strangers, if you need a push in that direction, I will give you one. Push...get help now. Push, you have a child to take care of, get help now...Push, you can't even get up and go to work anymore, probably your social life is nil because of the depression as well, get help now.... If you kill yourself in your dream, that doesn't necessarily mean that you will in real life, it could mean that you have reached the point where you have had enough of your situation to do something about it, and transform your life, death in dreams often means letting go of old beliefs or old ways of doing things, and taking on new beliefs or new approaches. Killing yourself in a dream doesn't necessarily mean that literally, it often means killing off a part of yourself that you don't like, in this case, a long, ongoing depression. If you don't have insurance, contact your local department of health and mental hygeine, and see if they can point you where you can get help on a sliding scale, ask your family for help if you need to. In addition to seeking help for depression, also get checked for physical problems, I tend to be anemic, and have found that anemia causes depression, and masquerades as depression, getting treated for depression only helped so much, getting treated for anemia has made a huge difference for me. (I am only using anemia as one of many examples of physical disorder that can cause this state).... Pushin you out the door now.....good luck, and please get help.......

The suicide in your dream symbolises wanting to "kill the feeling" of a struggle to survive or feeling alone.

1) Go to the doctor
2) Speak to your parents - do you need financial or emotional support?
3) Be realistic - it takes time to adjust to big changes in your life.
4) If all else fails, maybe you need to move back into your parents house. Better to feel a bit embarrassed as opposed to ending your life!

*All the more reason to reach out for help if you're a mother. How old is your child? You may have postnatal depression.

**Is it possible to tell your Mum you're not coping and could you move back home for a while?
I have bipolar disorder and had to move back with my parents for a six month stint when I was 26. Now I'm 31, married and working and life for the most part is peachy.
Ask for help ... crap only needs to be temporary :)

Not at all. Dreams are symbolic of what is going on in our lives and represents things we have stored in the subconscious that we cannot remember. Just because you dreamt you killed yourself, doesn't mean you will.

Moving out of your parents house and not making it is bothering you right now, so before you move out, save up some money so you can get your own place. Forget roommates-they are not 100% reliable and can drag you down if you are not strong enough.

So with the suicide in your dream it represents your subconscious telling you that if you push this move too soon it is going to "kill you". I.e. how to pay rent or utilities and buy food without a job....don't worry as you will have plenty of time to be an adult.

As long as you can stay at home to save up the funds and move right....the better off you will be.

Meditate every morning. shut your eyes in silence and imagine a picture of your life and the time being and look at everything and start getting rid of the things that you feel has made you feel the way you do. Think of it as alluminating them to benefit yourself and away to get on down the trail. You and yours has missed out on so much, it's time to catch up and enjoy this life that has been giving to you to do as you wish.Remember life is what you make it so it's all up to you.

dreams are just symbols created by the sub-conscious to help us deal with problems in our daily lives. they deal with the past and the present THEY do not deal with the future. i too suffer from mental illness(that is what dpression is) it is not an easy illness to deal with. i'm 52 and i have suffered with it since i was 12.) you need to seriously talk to your doctor and see what he/she has to say about it. your 1 year old daughter needs you in her life very much. i know it is a platitude but things will be better and hopefully with a doctors help it will be soon better. take heart and many Blessings on you and yours!
