he says it will be on his arm and it will be quite unnoticeable but I really do not know if I should let him do it!

dumb dumb dumb dumb.
first of all... half of all marriages don't last a lifetime. how many boyfriend/girlfriend relationships do? i'm not saying that you "will" definitely break up but the odds are against you.
if you don't want him to do it tell him that you think a name tattoo will jinx your relationship so you'd rather just play it safe. if he really wants to get a tattoo for you... have him get something that reminds him of you but not your name. like if i were going to get a tattoo to remind me of my husband i would either get a chicken or a drum. much better than a name in my opinion.

Well everyone who has ever done this idiotic thing knows the moment you tattoo someone's name on your body they go away... I suggest not doing it, unless you are married for 20 plus years, you have children together, and you are in it for the long haul, don't tattoo someone else's name on you... Although there are exceptions for family members, friends who have passed away or have been there for you, pets, children, thing's of that nature...

Tattooing a temporary love in a permanent way is rather foolish, you can not guarantee your togetherness but I can guarantee you this, no future boyfriend or girlfriend will ever enjoy looking at the name of an ex on someone's skin... It is tacky, and just getting a tattoo for the hell of it, is no reason to get one...

No matter how small the name is, it is permanent. Also, I would think any man who wants to tattoo his girlfriend's name on his body is slightly insane and probably obsessive...

If you have any brain, dump him, because he will only hold getting the tattoo against you because statistics say, boyfriends and girlfriends who get tattoos of one another are SOOOO likely to break up within a very short time after the tattoo, and then regret ever getting it :)

I really wouldn't rush into that. My fiance had an ex tattoo his name on her body. :) Didn't work out too well for her (since I ended up with him and not her). Things might be GREAT right now, and you might be thinking of marriage and the whole nine yards, but things change -- tattoos don't.

Maybe he can get something to symbolize you. Something that means alot to you instead of your name.

Good luck!

NO .. just tell him that to wait till you guys get married then you both get each others name tatted... see what his reaction will be.. my X got my face on his arm & guess who don't like it his wife now & i don't blame her i would be so pissed to see my husband arm w/ x girl on it ... so not a good idea to get ur name unless u've been 2gether 4 20 yrs & don't think at all if you're going to make ....

Tell him to stop being a punani and get a real tattoo if he wants one so bad. Don't let him get your name, if he really cares and loves you so much to get something permanent, he should get you a engagement ring.

my partner wanted my name tatooed on him as well. i said when and if we ever get married. so a week b4 the wedding we both got wedding bands tattooed on our ring finger and each others name in a braclet on our wrist below. i was 35 any younger and i'd have 10 different names so be sure you want your name on his body (remember its a statement to everyone your are his)

basically getting your boyfriend/girlfriend/lover/mate's name tattooed on you is going a signify a breakup. for instance, pam and tommy, angelina and billy bob, any rapper and their baby-mama. tattoo ink never spells out true love.
