my g/f's father is coming back in 2 weeks from kuwait. He is a a a srg. major or something of high command in the navy. He is on his 2nd tour and is a real tuff man apparently. I talked to him once on the phone, just from talking to him, i became instantly sweaty from the words he was saying to me. He started to jokje w/ me on the phone about his daughter, which my g/f said her father never does, to anyone, not even his son-in-law who is also in the navy. I am curious to see if people think it would be a good impression or not, just to joke w/ hjim, and dress up as a sailor when we go to his house for me to mee him?

NO. it might look like a disgrace to her father as he is in the navy. and you should'nt make yourself look funny - but 'act' it. When you get to know him better - go for it. But first impressions last for quiet awhile. So just dress nicely causal, or the way your girlfriend would perfer you to be dressed around her parents.

He might take offense to it like you think it's a big joke that he's in the military. I wouldn't do it especially if you have talked to him once, but have never met him. It's really hard to tell how he would take it and I'm not sure that's a risk you should take.

There aren't any SgtMaj s in the Navy. Stick with what you know to avoid embarrassing yourself or offending someone else. It might wind up being funny, but at your expense.

You might try to learn to spell and make sense in a sentence that may impress him more.

no not for a first impression. he would probably feel like you were making fun or mimicking him in a way.
......or he'd think that your a kiss a** ..
I think it's a bad idea and I am sure that you would end up regretting it.

If you are a sailor, go ahead.. If you're not, he'll think you're a clown and making fun of him.

No. He might not see it as a joke and instead think you are mocking him.
