what they all say about the power supply is lies!
its a standard cable, .i.e the same one that plugs into the back of your pc.
the ps3 has its own bulit in transformer and is capable of accepting a variety of different currents. including usa/uk.
how do i know? i bought a usa model.
yes, games are region free.
dvds/blue ray/ps2 games however are not.
your better off buying a 60gb model here with 2 games and controllers for £350.

Yes It Will Play Game As These Are Not Region Locked. However It Will NOT Play Blu-Ray Disks That Have Been Bought In The UK (PAL) As These Are Region Locked. But Apart From That Then Yes you Can Play English Games On An American System. You Will NOT, I Repeat NOT Need To Buy A Transformer !!! (Which I Have Seen From Previous Answers) The PS3 Has A Built-In Transformer, Much Like The Xbox360's Power Brick But It Is Located Inside The System. The Only Thing You Will Need Is A Plug Adaptor That Will Allow U To Plug the Supplied 2 Prong Cable Into A 3 Prong Socket. Or You Could always Buy A British Power Cable. :-)

Yes, PS3 games are not region locked however, the PS2 games are region locked. You will have to buy PS2 games in the US rather than the UK but for PS3 games, you can buy them anywhere around the world. Since the US is 120V and the UK is 240V, you will need a transformer. The transformer should be about 300W-500W, so you can play longer. I bought a 300W and my PS3 didn't turn off from 7:00AM-6:00PM. I actually recommend you to get a 400W or 500W for maximum gaming. Hope this helps!

If you have a High Definition TV, the TV will be able to display the US PS3 picture.
Also, the PS3 games are region free until now.
However you will have the problem of different electrical power voltages.
In the US they only have 110 Volts, in Europe we use 220 Volts. You would need a power converter for this to work.

Yeah you can play all PS3 games worlwide regardless of where they were bought or on which ps3 they are playing on. I bought a handfull of games in the US to play on my pal ps3 and have also bought games from Japan too through ebay. It is not the case with blu ray movies though same as dvds the blu ray movies are region coded. North America is region A where in europe we are region B. So remember if you bought a US PS3 then you would have to buy Region A discs from US.
The guy who said not to bother buying one cos sony are about to srap them in Europe is talking rubbish. As a matter of fact i have never heard anything so laughable in such a long time.
Sony have just started selling a cheaper version so i hardly think they would build that version specifically for europe when they are going to stop selling them.
As a matter of fact i believe that Sony sold 800,000 in its first weekend of sales in europe making it the biggest selling games console in its opening period ever in Europe.

Yes but, you will either need to buy an expensive travel adapter or order the UK equivelent plug. I wouldn't bother Sony is planning on scrapping the PS3 here real soon due to poor 4th quarter sales.

I have US PS3 in Europe - no problems (PS3 games are multiregion). Only a couple of things to tell you:
1). I had to pay around 50$ for a 500 watt (PS3 needs at least 370W) 110-220V converter.
2). PS2 games and movies aren't multiregion ones.
3). NTSC compatible TV (most of them are all-right on this issue).
4). NTSC version is much better than PAL one - better hardware, better backwards compatibility. That was my reason to get it.

I'm not sure.......in North America, we use NTSC but in Europe, they use the PAL video format, not sure if you can play uk PAL games on a NTFS PS3.
Its like playing a European DVD on a North American DVD player
