I've never had a digital camera before... But in the past I've always used a old camera that was like all metal and plastic.... But now I got a digital camera (Sony cyber shot DSC-T5) anyway I use to use my old camera all the time in the rain and there was no problem, but now I'm wondering if I can still shoot in rain (I mean light rain, not like a heavy storm) so do you think it is ok to be out and about in the rain taking pictures with this camera? Or do you think if the camera gets wet it all it will be ruined?

Unless you go with something like a Pentax K10D or K110D (numerous weather seals and built like a tank) you are going to have problems with moisture. You can purchase rain sleeves for your camera or you can make one from a gallon size plastic food bag (previously unused of course). Just cut a hole the size of your lens and CAREFULLY tape it around the outside. The zip opening side will be at the back for your hands. Just be sure the bag is big enough that it can move as the lens rotates to focus.

The HS20 isn't climate sealed, it hence is genuinely no longer recommended to take the digital camera out interior the rain. extremely, a easy little bit of rain probable could no longer kill it, yet you on occasion get unlucky. bathe caps (maximum fancy lodges have them for loose), are somewhat smart as they have an elasticated setting up on the front. It won't shop each and all of the water out, yet could shop it remote from intense aspects.

Ive got the same kind, and trust me it wouldn't last for long. Maybe use an umbrella or just take a quick shot that won't give the water enough time to get inside it. :)

Water and gravity are the leading killers of digital cameras.

Check at penncamera.com or fotosharp.com or stormjacket.com for inexpensive "raincoats" for your camera. You'll be glad you did.

the camera will DEFINITELY get ruined if out too long (or long enough!) in the rain....unless it's WATER PROOF,,,and it's only waterproof if it says so on the box you bought it...otherwise, be careful, cuz water will damage it! ^_^

It can be ruined.

You might consider something like Pentax Optio W series... That stuff works under water.
