NIKON OR CANON? and specifically which?

I shoot Nikon, but others chose Canon (watch the spelling).

depends on what you are using it for. i prefer canon because they are as good or better than nikons and half as expensive. with nikons you are not paying for quality in the camera, you are paying for the nikon name. i have a canon EOS 1Ds Mark II and it is outstanding. if you are just now deciding to make the jump from point and shoot to slr, a good entry level slr is the canon xti, which i also have. if you are getting another slr, i would probably go with the 20D or 30D, depending on the budget you are on. hope i helped!

The camera brand won't make a pro photographer. The photographer makes a pro camera.
