Just to clarify this because people misunderstand this frequently - Girl Scouts of the USA is an entirely separate organization than Boy Scouts of America. GSUSA does not require the adherence to a particular faith and has a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
I'm an agnostic Girl Scout leader. I have no problem since there's no requirement to believe in a particular god. The Girl Scout Promise includes "I will try to serve god and my country..." but allows girls to substitute any word they apply to their god (Buddha, Mother Earth, whatever). When I teach girls the Promise I use the traditional version, but once they've learned it, when we're all saying the Promise, I substitute "good" for "god" - I'm not sure exactly what I believe in (and don't give it a heck of a lot of thought), but if there is anything, I believe it must be good, so that works for me. :-)

I was a girl scout from the age of 5 to the age of 18. And I'm not quite sure what you mean by "get over it." Being in girl scouts was a great experience, I made many lifelong friends and benefited greatly from it.
If you're talking about the (very slight) religious influence in it, I mostly ignored it. I don't remember ever hearing about people getting kicked out because of religion or sexual orientation. If it happened, it wasn't in my district.

Haha I was a Girl Scout and I freakin' loved it. We went hiking, had parties, made crafts, and were all great friends. In fact I am still very close to two of the girls I was in there with. However we all quit in the 6th grade because when we got to middle school it was way un-cool to be a Girl Scout.

I was a Boy Scout, back in the good old days. There was nothing to get over because it was an entirely positive experience for me. Since then, the thought police have infested the BSA and I certainly wouldn't want any child of mine to be indoctrinated by bigots.

I was a girl scout but I don't remember anything about it. I mean nothing. Have always been unable to understand religion so I likely just brushed over that part if there was that part.

I was in the Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts too. The religious aspects didn't bother me too much; I already had to deal with that crap at home at the time. I was more bugged by the whole conformity thing, the "well-roundedness" being manifested in "everybody has to do at least one thing they don't like".

Cub scouts, but I was a Christian then.
There's not much to get over. It's a shame that they kick people out just because of their sexual orientation or lack of religion, because it is otherwise a great organization. It is such a black smug on a great organization.
BTW, atheists are allowed to be girl scouts, if they are female.
