Go right to the source: read "The Satanic Bible" by Anton Szandor LaVey. Just about every major book store carries it. The idea is a bit expanded upon in the two follow-up book, "The Satanic Rituals" (regarding "greater magic") and "The Satanic Witch" (regarding "lesser magic"). You might also read the essays on churchofsatan.com.
Granted you can find a good number of bored teenagers who do a mish-mash of candle burning and stuff lifted from different occult books (though more often from tacky horror movies) and call it "Satanic magic", but this isn't what actual Satanists do.
As for the details, I'll say this much: there's reason why we don't spell it with a "k". We don't feel the need to separate it from the "stage magic" and the like because we don't feel that it's that drastically different. They're both acts of willingly and knowingly suspending disbelief in a controlled environment for the purposes of certain emotional release. It's much more about psychology than mysticism.

Take the magick/magic route. I'd stay away from Satanism, if I were you. No, I'm not a religious, strict person (no offense to those who are devoutly religious) and I wouldn't put magic and Satanism in the same boat either. Most Christians tend to say that magic is evil, but it isn't inherently "evil", just different set of beliefs. Different strokes for different folks. And I heard some bad stories from watching History Channel documentaries about Satanism...

The first question that comes to mind is "if you're interested in magic, why are you pairing it with Satanism? Or does the philosophy of Satanism appeal to you?"
There are many approaches to magic out there.

Look up neo-pagan religions such as Wicca. Satanism is about worshiping one's self and animal instincts. Personally, I don't think it's the greatest religion because it emphasizes selfishness, but there are a lot of really good religions dealing with magic.
Anyway, to learn more about paganism and satanism, the best source is wikipedia... then go to the "external links" section of each page to find out more.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satanism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-paganism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicca
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polytheistic_reconstructionism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncretism
p.s. Don't listen to ignorant Christian answers. Most of them have not even questioned their own faith enough to explore other religions and therefore the only knowledge they have of paganism is what they learn from their own church and bible.

Why would you want to worship something that hates you and is going to be destroyed?
You were brought into this world spiritually dead because of Satan so why on earth would you want to praise him for it?
If you were a small child and someone took you from your Father and raised you in darkness and despair all the while telling you your suffering is your Fathers fault and not theirs why would you want to love that person after doing that to you?
And then that evil person lied to you saying that you could never go back to your Father anyways and are stuck with them because of all the bad things you've done that they made you do?
Your life is hopeless and your dead inside because of Satan he stole you from your Heavenly Father who loves you very much more than words could ever express.
That's why your Father the one who loves you came to this world to take away your sins so sin could never separate the two of you again.
Upon receiving Life from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ all of your sins will be forgiven and forgotten and you will receive eternal Life with your real Father the one who loves you and wants you back.
Then you will receive the Holy Spirit who will take care of you and protect you from the evil one who no longer will be able to torment you ever again.
Why worship the one who wants to destroy you and keep you from your Father?
But I warn you if you want to find God stay away from Religion because Religion has nothing to do with God it's only there to confuse us and control us and actually turn us away from God leading us back towards Satan.
God wants us to have a direct personal relationship with Him as His children and He our Father and we won't find that through Religion.
God bless you and we are waiting for you to come home all of your brothers and sisters who love you and care about you.
God bless you and may the Holy Spirit come upon you and save you like He did me.
