Really, you can't. Cracking is a characteristic of custard pies. It doesn't hurt anything, and when you put the whipped cream on each slice, no one will see the cracks.

Too high of heat or too long in the oven is usually the cause for 'cracks'. Try to reduce the heat or check sooner than you have listed. This should do the trick!
BTW: cracks on the pumpkin pie is not uncommon, nor does it indicate that you did anything wrong. Just remember that the top may look 'wet' when it should still come out of the oven. Good luck!

pumpkin pie always crack a little because they are a type of custard to lessen the affect try putting a separate pie plate with a little water in it while baking the pie

im thinking maybe pumpkin pie might be like cheesecake? i dont know i have never made pumpkin pie but maybe if you cook it in a waterbath (lil bit of water in a pan with the pie plate in there ) migth prevent it i have heard about that for cheesecake, its worth a try or at least some research online.

Try this.... this sometimes works for me
Try put a pan of water in with ( next too the pie) pie when it's baking.

If you are not successful at stopping the cracks you could always cover it with a whip cream design or a full cover if necessary.

as quickly as I bake, my muffins or regardless of sink interior the middle and get a sprint crack too. i know this works for merigne so try it alongside with your pies! whilst its cooked, turn the oven off and depart it there to kick back very slowy and steadily. it ought to artwork.
