Kind of a convoluted approach, isn't it? You prove every step of what you say, but I don't have to prove anything.

A reminder that the Bible is just the ravings of various people and doesn't prove anything.

Because the christians are desperate to punch holes into everything that doesn't promote them. evolution and everything else that can remove them from the social status of rightousness is a threat that they will attack with zeal. Whereas they will say that it is all about faith with them. And when you question it, they will tell you that you can't understand the nature of god. It is the largest and oldest load of crap around.

They couldn't and can't handle the same scrutiney when they have to prove themselves. It is just a testiment on how weak they truley are.

Not all Christians feel this way. The writers of the Bible never intended it to be taken literally, and there are obvious contradictions in the text. The writers of the Bible were Jews and Greeks who lived a long time ago before there was any concept of evolution.

Many Christians believe that if you start with an omnipotent God who "calls worlds into being," the rest is just parlor tricks. Asking God to "show" Her work by giving us some tangible proof is a bit ridiculous. You do not need to understand how a sunset occurs or a baby is born to appreciate and enjoy it, and understand its significance.

People who cannot entertain alternatives to their belief system are threatened by the possibility that they could be wrong. As Mother Theresa , Augustine, and even Jesus of Nazareth demonstrated, it is proper and healthy to examine one's beliefs. How strong a faith can you have if it cannot stand scrutiny?

The crux of religion is that it cannot be proven by conventional means, and thus must be arrived at by faith.

Religion is a governmental body that is based on organizational self preservation. Any change in the Dogma of the religion scares those in power. Christians do not hold a monopoly on this, it is shared with all RELIGIONS.

The belief in God has nothing to do with Religion, God gave you free will to allow you to think. If a carpenter uses a hammer and saw to make a chair we still say the carpenter made the chair. I think Evolution is the process used by the creator to make this world a wonderful place.

The bible is the collective memory of 2 religions, Judaism and Christianity. The Story's predate the written word and therefor is prone to translational errors. While it may not be prudent to believe everything. It also is not wise to dismiss everything as ravings. The meanings of the stories are still as valuable today as 3000 years ago.

I think it should be noted that there are many Christian evolutionists and to Christians the Bible is not just ravings, they view it as a history of Christianity.
To answer your question, many Christians have a problem with evolution because they believe the human race begins with Adam and Eve and that they were made after God's image and therefore they feel a need to discredit evolution since that does not mention Adam and Eve. Therefore, they want every link to prove that evolution is a valid theory.

Fist, this is not all Christians. Many accept the evidence that evolution is real and have adapted their faith to match the reality of the universe as we know it. Try not to tar everyone with such a broad brush. You also miss out the Muslim and Jewish fundies that claim evolution is false.

But for all these fundies, every new fossil in the chain just replaces the one 'missing link' with two more on each side!

They will never accept evolution until we have a complete set of fossils, with one from each generation, going from a trilobite to Homo Sapiens. And even then some will find a way to deny it. They would probably demand DNA matching to show that each was the direct offspring of the last.

It would be funny if they were not corrupting the minds of their children. And even worse, trying to corrupt the education of ours.

I've been a christian for my entire life, at a very young age I was taught the bible and creationism. It was taught so enthusiasticaly that you just accepted it like everyone else. It wasn't until about age 10 that I began to really have questions.
In 7th grade at a christian school we were taught evolution vs creation from a standpoint of disproving evolution. I didnt even realise that proving creation was just as difficult if not harder. Now that I'm an adult,I understand that Christianity is.hard to apply , its not really practical, its all based on faith. I am still I firm believer because thats how I was raised, but I don't preach it because, I feel like its just something you have to want to believe in, you cant convince anyone to believe in the bible or Creation, they have to accept it themselves. It hurts me to read your statements about the Bible being "ravings" but I won't criticize your disbelief. I personaly will never beleive in Evolution, not because I want to disprove it, but simply because I believe in the Bible and the key word is Faith. Although Evolution maybe more logical and people tend to accept it easier, logic and science does not necessarily provide the answer to all things. I don't think its fair for either group to demand evidence. As humans the best we can ever do is to offer theories.

As a Christian I try to have respect for other peoples beliefs, therefore I wont critcize them, but neither should you criticize my belief.Having faith is a way of life ,leave it at that.

I agree with your premise..but I do not like your delivery. The fact is "revelation is heresay to all but the one who experiences it." Furthermore, to ignore all of the evidence regarding the facts of science and logic (i.e. evolution) is absurd.

The answer to your question is that many "Christians" do not have a true faith, which would stand up to constant scrutiny, but subscribe to a religion created for structure and power.

While the Bible should definitely not be taken literally, it does send many good messages...and I wouldn't call it ravings. Raving is more like what you are doing.

We should all look within ourselves, at nature, and other people's actions for the truth...not in a book or sermon. Just as I criticize those who subscribe to a religion without fully questioning or understanding why...I also pity those who never find true faith in the spirit. Keep searching and the truth will be discovered...look within yourself and heed your soul.

Evolutionist say that evolution can prove our religion as false through science. So, we make those statements hold there weight through science, and alot of what scientist say are weak theorys, that some try to pass off as fact. Ex. scientist have only found fosils that are early, yet truely humans, or truely apes. They have never found ANY proof of a link to these two species. They never have found a "transition animal" or any "ape like/human creature" These are scientist saying this not me. Did humans come from an earlier more primative man, I think so. Was it anything other than uniquely Human. There is NO scientific proof either way. Christians never said that there beliefs could all be proven, that is what we call faith. I for one have never found the theory of revolution to chalege the belief in God. I believe that there is a very good chance that God did create man and woman through an evolutionary process, ,and that there could be a chance that the book of genesis is mearly symbolism to describe what God did. I could be wrong. The only thing that I say is the theroy of evolution should exposed for what it truely is scientificaly it is.

As far as the Bible, It is not mearly ramblings. Much of it is a History book that is historicaly and scientificaly proven to have happen. There was a man named Jesus who lived during that time, and those were his teachings passed down. Your belief on who this guys was is up to you. He would never force you to believe anything.

Yes, well, a mind that is filled with ideals created by ancient men and believes them without question, is a mind that functions in an ancient way. It's the - Do as you are told and you will survive - mentality that Christianity perfected! Anything contrary to their beliefs creates trepidation no matter how obvious it is to the rational part of the brain, for that part of their brain doesn't function the same as those who aren't controlled by organized religion. It snaps shut at the first sign of contradiction and stays that way. No amount of reason can get in then.

Your question makes perfect sense to those of us who aren't controlled by religion!

To begin with; I am a believer of Creationism (i guess that is right way to put it).

if you dont have faith; it is kind of hard to believe in creationism.
faith (defined by webster) is:firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2): complete trust

so, if you have faith, you theoretically do not have to have proof; its a belief.

and science is ever changing; it is not the LAW of evolution; but rather just the THEORY of evolution, which means it could be disproven at anytime.

and a counter argument or four:
a) the second law of thermodynamics: everything goes from organization to chaos; complex to simple; charged to empty - how can evolution; a theory which goes from simple to complex contradict a scientific LAW?
b)fossil gaps. self explanitory. if darwin said that it is like a stairway, why does it go one to ten, instead of 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10?
c.no known mechanism? law of action and reaction? how can you have a reaction from no action?yes, there is the lightning that hit the puddle, but how about from that first blob into that dog in your living room?
d.how is it that science, something based upon numbers and reasoning, can use a reason of "chance" and "time" to support evolution?
