Hey, I'm a 19 year old Canadian guy, and I was thinking on where to go for my Winter Holiday. Then my friend mentioned Australia. To those who have had the honour of going down under, how was your trip?

Right now is a great time to visit as it is not too hot yet. Do Sydney and Queensland first then when it starts to get really hot head down to Melbourne and Tasmania. Remember that, like Canada, the distances are vast and it is pretty expensive to travel around compared to Europe and America. Look online for cheap airfares between the states - Virgin Blue or Jetstar usually have specials. If you are limited by time or finances, probably best to choose Queensland or Northern Territory as they are the iconic Aussie destinations - beautiful but expensive too! Wherever you go you'll find beautiful scenery and have a good time.

It is coming into summer so temperatures are rising. The wet season is starting across northern Australia so if you are thinking about the tropics, go now or wait til April. Sydney is great at this time of year and if you come for new year you get the fireworks over the Bridge and then the Festival of Sydney right through January. There are plenty of other places in Australia but start in Sydney, it is Australia's oldest, biggest and most beautiful city.

I live in Australia. It's a great country but if you come down here now for the summer expect a HUGE temperature change.. No snow, lots of sun burns!!
I dont know where abouts you're thinking of going. I live in sydney so it's very urbanised... you go up north queensland it's beautiful, Northern Territory aswell is very hot.. Tasmania is a little cooler but nothing that you're not used to. If you're looking for scenery i'd recommend you go to queensland but if you like to party and go out, come to sydney (NSW).. Queensland and NSW both have great beaches (queensland especially). The choice is up to you, do your research and see what you'd like to do.
