I understand that but I have read that the liver CAN rejuvenate
itself to some degree under certain circumstances if you obstain from the harmful elements which are under your control, alcohol, etc. Is there anything I can "take" or "do "
to maintain or improve the condition of my liver besides eat right and take care of my body, or am I too late? I' 60.

Any meditation will likely help you remain strong in the face of temptation to return to drinking.

As for anything you can take, years ago there was some talk that lecithin was good for damaged livers, but I have no evidence, and very often those "rumors" turn out to be unfounded.

I have never heard of it. You can eat a less fatty diet , take less medications and drink no alcohol and take no unprescribed drugs at all. This may work but once you have the diagnosis you are prone to many other things and if you go off track and consume the wrong things you will not be helping yourself at all.

I can only tell you what my Docs told me.
NO smoking, NO drinking alcohol. Watch red-meat intake. (try to stick to more chicken and fish) Personally I eat all organic foods (no hormones, pesticides, etc.) More fruits & veggies. Fresh is best. Frozen is 2nd. I also take Milk Thistle. My Docs don't object. Research Milk Thistle and then ask your Dr. if he objects to you taking it. Drink lots of water. I only drink bottled water. And try to stay away from processed and fast food. I only cook in Olive Oil. I don't drink soda pop anymore at all. Good Luck! Deb diag 2003 grade3 stage4
