If you mean that by not wanting to do a big party .Then you just say hey we are getting married. there you go short and sweet . I understand not having a party and all that but getting engaged is a big deal.

Probably as soon as you're engaged, so that you don't upset people's feelings. Some people think getting engaged is a very big deal, and might feel left out if you didn't tell them right away.

If you don't want to make a fuss, then tell each person one at a time, over the phone. And only make as big a deal of it as you want it to be. If you don't want it to be a big deal, then just pop it in at the end of the conversation.

Best wishes, and good luck

Just tell your parents and your siblings. Wait sometime before telling lots of other people. Some couples call everyone and their mother and tell them. I think a simple call to both sets of parents, grandparents and siblings is good.

After a while (maybe a week or two-once the family excitement has settled), then start telling other people.

Also, if you tell your family first-they can spread the news. That way, the pressure to "announce" to everyone is off. You have your family doing the dirty work. People might call you or mention your new engagement when you see them. but it will be on a less dramatic scale.

Just wait until they notice your ring if you dont want to make a big thing of it. I am sure people will see the extra bling and get excited for you.
Or alternatively you could put an announcement in the local newspaper announcing your engagement.

Do it when you feel it's an appropriate time - maybe when everyone that you want to know right away is together, at a family function or something - but not a time when you feel it'll take someone else's thunder away. Like, don't tell everyone at your sister's 30th birthday party!! :-)
Or, if you feel it's more appropriate, call up you want to know right away, and ask them to all meet for dinner at your favorite restaurant, and tell them you have news. Then, announce it!

That'd be so fun!

Good luck, and congrats!

If you don't want to make it a big deal, don't send anything out just yet. As soon as you get a wedding date then send out the save the date cards and everyone will know that way.
