Mostly what I've heard is that various attempts have been dismal failures. There is now a "recovery" group for people who have been subjected to the fundamentalist brainwashing and then suffered guilt and shame when they didn't change the way they were expected to. Some even got married and then had to explain it all to their husbands or wives. A few have even committed suicide.
This whole program of "praying people straight" bears a remarkable resemblance to the "scared straight" programs of the 1960s and 1970s. That was a different use of the word "straight," but the threat of eternal damnation is not that different from the threat of long prison sentences. And to the extent it is different, it is worse!
In my opinion, if anyone could consistently go straight and stay straight, it would be because they were bisexual rather than homosexual to begin with.

Ok, well I've been reading some responses and there has been a trend of answers. Most everyone says to be who you are. But really, if you are gay, and you want to be straight, why can't you? It's OUR choice that we don't want to be gay! But we (unfortunately) can't do much about it. I am under 18, and I just like to say, if you're under 18, and you feel you are gay, don't worry. It's just a part of puberty. If you really want to turn straight, hang out with non-gay guys, stop going on gay pron, don't masturbate(yes, it might be hard, but it will help), and be with your dad more often. Why is that? It is proven that boys who tend to stay with there mother more, will end up being gay, vice versa with girls. And if you can, get a girlfriend, or boyfriend, it can help quite a lot. I myself am trying to not be gay. Hope this helps.

ROFL! You are seroiusly mislead if you think it's possible to turn a "gay man straight" unless you plan on becoming a neuro surgeon and discovering a way to alter the structure of their brain.

God is not going to make any person sleep with anyone. God gives us freewill. Don't get me wrong, some people are born a little more feminine or a little more masculine than others. But we are all born with something we struggle with. Some people have cancer, others are blind for life. Some have to deal with the fact that they are attracted to the same sex. But you must remember, a man can find another man attractive, but that does not mean he has to sleep with him. The sin is only in sleeping with a man as one sleeps with a woman, not in being attracted to the same sex. We all have impulses and lusts of some kind. It is what we do with our impluses and lusts that matters. Only a man can decide who he sleeps with, God will not decide that for you.

No. Honestly, I haven't tried. I just want to stay out of it (especially since it doesn't affect or harm anyone).

The "Gay Phenominon"
Is a bunch of counter culture non-sense.
A very low percentage of people are true homosexuals.

No human can turn a gay man straight it is only the power of God that can do that, and yes I have seen people who claimed to be gay at 1 time give their lives to Christ and really, really, really, just wonder how they ever once felt that way. Like all sin once we truly repent from our hearts of our sin God will come in and give you a new heart, a heart that desires to do Gods will.
