I wouldn't mind if my girlfriend proposed to me, and that's saying it really lightly, I would be incredibly happy if she did.
People here are way too into gender roles, why should the man propose? If we keep that gender role why don't we keep others to? Women are meant to be equal in this society and yet so many people (women included) seem hellbent on keeping dated gender roles.A woman has as much right to propose to a man as he has to her...

I did not propose to my fiance, he proposed to me. But we did buy engagement rings for both of us. He wants to wear a ring to show that he is in a committed relationship. The work he does requires physical labor so when we do get married, the ring he is currently wearing as his engagement ring will become his work ring while his wedding ring (the ring we will be using for the ceremony) will be is not work wedding ring.

I would refuse to take the ring, not that i dont like wearing jewellery just that its usually the guy that buys the rings and i would feel odd, im not usually a traditional person but there you go.

I wouldn't "propose"... I could possibly ask him what he thought of the idea of the two of us getting married. I certainly wouldn't be buying a ring or making it into some blown-out-of-proportion event - it would simply be a question for us to discuss.

I wouldn't buy a ring first, he probably would rather help pick it out. The fact that you love him that much is probably enough. Remember, men are naturally fearful of commitments.

I would buy my own engagement ring and offer it to him in proposal... if he accepts then he can give it back to me. Most guys I know don't like jewelry.

One of my best friends planned to ask her boyfriend to marry her by getting a gentleman's compass engraved with "Will you marry me?" and giving to him when they went camping for their anniversary. But then he proposed to her on the trip first. Aww!

i might tell her to return the ring and to no longer waste her money on one among those ingredient. i do no longer think of it could be emasculating regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it could be an lovable attempt at a roll reversal which might amuse me.
