Or do you think that other religions and beliefs are just plain wrong?

Truthfully, I don't.

Yes of course. I have to respect all.
No pun intended, I respect the snake and what it can do to me. If I don't, it can bit me in the derrière. Same goes to religion.
Respect all those who are your friend and those who are indifferent.

If they're really religions, then yes, I do.

But if they're cults, then, no, I don't.

And no, I don't have a hard-and-fast rule for deciding whether something's a cult or not.

It's kinda like art or pornography...like the Supreme Court justice said, I'll know it when I see it.

I mean, I try to be reasonable about these things. If a religion makes a person better, helps them find their higher self or true calling or whatever, then that's noble and I respect that. I might not agree with it, but it's all about what works for the individual.

But if a "religion" curtails a person's free will and rights (especially those of children, who can't decide to be in a religion on their own because they aren't mature enough to be held accountable) or is contrary to basic US standards, it's a cult and has no business calling itself a religion. Though religions often have lists of things they prohibit or say will "send one to hell" (or wherever), a consequence is not the same as coercion to force somebody to do something.

Anything with brainwashing, involuntary isolation, abuse, torture, suicide pacts, exposure to dangerous activities/toxins...that's not religion. Any activity the members would feel is "right" is generally based on what a charismatic leader forces them to do through mind-control methods.

All members of a religion should retain the right to screw up their lives completely, because without the ability to make mistakes (or "commit sins"), they don't "choose" the right thing to do.

With no choice, there's no right or wrong. There's just one thing to do. That's not free will, and everybody's entitled to that.

So cults are bad, mmmmkay?

Religions, eh, most of 'em aren't too bad.

Yes. I always try to make sure I am respecting others and not looking down on their beliefs. I think we can learn a little from every religion. As long as they aren't hurting anyone else and they have good intentions then I have no problem at all with other religions. I'm not saying I agree with every aspect of every religion because I am a Christian, but I definitely respect them and they are entitled to their own belief. Freedom of religion is a great thing about America :)

I do respect other religions because frankly, no religion out there has it 100% right. You can find truth in all religions. Some more than others though. There are a lot of religions that actually agree on things such as the Great Flood for instance. Many religions believe that it happened. Of course they all give different names for Noah, but that will happen because of cultural and linguistic differences. I should also point out that you can respect a religion and still disagree with it. So yes, you should respect all religions, you might learn something from them.

I respect other religions, I feel I cannot judge another religion, especially if it is not a religion that I am familiar with, or have only heard things about. I do not however think it is right for a religion to have sermons or lessons on anti other religion or show films that are anti other religions. I'm not naming names people that belong to this church know what I am talking about. That is wrong and I do not agree with it, it teaches ignorance, hate, and is not factual information. That is why you shouldn't judge other religions, unless you have practiced or studied the religion yourself.

Well truthfully I don't BELIEVE in them, but it isn't that I don't respect them. First, I have no idea what's right, so I cannot write any off as foolish. Second, they give their followers hope and comfort, often in times when they need it most. Foolish in actual message? perhaps to some. Foolish in what is accomplished? not at all. We all gain strength from something, and if people choose a religion to find that, that is their choice.

I try to respect other religions as long as they are respectful to my faith as well. An example of this would be in the bible that says, not let a witch suffer life. That is an anti-pagan comment. And thus I will not show as much respect to christianity.

secondly I will not show respect to a faith that is violent and bloody. In islam, they do honor killings were a man can wrap up a sister in a sheet bury her halfway in the ground and a bunch of men can throw stones at her till she is dead. I can't and won't respect that.

I find that religious belief is mostly geographical in nature which makes me question the validity of any religion.

But I don't think anyone is stupid, just because they have religious belief and find that most people are just trying to survive like me.

I don't respect any religious person that claims a monopoly on the truth though. They are ignorant and dangerous.

Well unless the are a Satanist, absolutely. Religion is a touchy subject and disagreeing and bring it up even can cost you a friendship. Christians in general all havbe the same goal, Jesus Christ. Depends, if a person religion is worshipping a 50 foot Stone owl, NO!

While I think that their beliefs maybe wrong I still respect them, it is completely possible to respect another religion, even though you disagree with their doctrines.
