There is this group of people in my town, who think they are "community leaders" but really , they are just jokes. One guy is a realtor who deals exclusively with skanky people, and sells crap houses. He gets on the radio (free open mic in the mornings) twice a week to toot his own horn on how he's doing "million dollar transactions this month". First of all, this is BS, because he lives in a crappy old victorian house and drives a rusty old Ford Taurus. He also gets in the newspaper all the time to talk about "business" and his church's "youth group" which he runs.
There is another group who run the local evangelical church (of which the aformentioned person is a member), and they were just in the paper for being "The ultimate high school sports family". The article talked about how great they are, how they went to Oral Roberts University and how their kids are great at sports. Is this weird? Do they call the newspaper and say "do a story about me"?? This is disturbing to me.

Here's the "sports family article". It's from Northern Michigan, that might say something. You be the judge:

Why does it bother you so much that someone else is getting attention for business and personal affairs? Is this person stealing money from people or hurting them in other ways? You sound jealous to me.

It is very clear to me these accusers are NOT hearing from God because:
They are not following the scriptures on how a mature christian is to handle situations if they find someone in error.
They are sueing which is another thing against the scripture guidelines.
They gave the documents they found to the Board of Regents and at that point it was the duty of the Board to handle any misconduct if they found it to be true.
I find the Roberts sincere...
I do not know them personally but have a friend that has worked at ORU for years. Also know a couple that attended college and graduated there. Have several friends whose children attend there.
All have expressed the up most respect for Richard and Lindsey Roberts.
My friend that works there says that what she appreciated the most was how they interacted with the kids. They make a point to greet the kids on a regular basis just walking around the campus and talk to the kids.
As an employee she and her husband speak very highly of them and many of the staff.
Oral, Evelyn, Richard, & Lindsey Roberts have done more good in all their years of service to help humanity.

It's business. Why the hell do you care? This guy probably likes his old Victorian house, if I had it my way, that's what I would own. Not everyone who is successful goes out and blows all their hard earned money on over priced "luxury" items. Maybe he would rather save money than make a payment on a new car. Maybe he's helping the "skanky people" because he feels for them, and wants to make their life a little better, if he's involved in the church it would be the Christian thing to do, right?. Ever consider that, Einstein?

Though you might think that these people are "prostituting" their businesses, they are simply building a brand image for their business. If they market themselves as the morally high business in the marketplace, and this sports angle will help them, then they are going to play that angle. It's all the fundamentals of capitalism. If you don't like it, there is always Cuba. Otherwise, you have to play the game to succeed in our country. It's no different then when McDonald's comes on your television screen and tells you that they have the juiciest burgers and show young, skinny people wolfing down a big mac with a smile. It's just on a smaller scale with a much smaller budget.

Why are you so jealous of these people? You said I could be the judge? Well, I judge these to be decent, hard working, involved people. Need more like them.
