So you have to believe in god to be a "good" person. WOW!

For the sake of argument lets say I don't know for sure wether God is real or not. So I have a choice. Deny God and hope that there is no afterlife or we get reincarnated. But if there is a God then you are headed to Hell where as if you believe in God and nothing happens you didn't miss out on anything. I'm not saying follow a particular religion to avoid a bad afterlife. I just can't believe that the intracacies of this universe happened by mistake. I cannot comprehend the perfect system was not planned by God. Instead search for God and he will find you.

I love how people always tell you to just have faith when there is no possible way to explain what they believe. This is not a personal stab, but an observation for answers that lie outside the norm of religious knowledge, especially Christianity.

To broaden to the full scope of the question, there are hundreds of thousands of stories in hundreds of thousands of religions to explain the miracles that happen every day. To put this into perspective, miracles can be pure, dumb luck, but from a purely logical standpoint, PLEASE believe in something.

I dont care what it is a person believes, even if it is a belief in athiesm. That little shred of hope/knowledge can help get you through a hard time.

As far as religions, i am not a religious person, but i am a very spiritual person, believing in beings we can't see or understand.

There is no such thing as right or wrong, moral or immoral outside our little circle we call society, and on that note, if it makes you feel uncomfortable praying to something you dont understand, then dont do it. But to err on the side of caution, you may want to continue to do what you are doing purely to hope that you didn't piss off your god if he is in fact there.

So what if we are wrong. What if there is no God, no Jesus, no heaven? What have I lost in life? By living a Godly life I have lived in a happy satisfying marriage of many years, have raised some awesome kids in a 2 parent home, I have been kept from STD"s, unwed pregnancies, abortions, over indulgences of alcohol and drugs, prison, hateful living, and a host of other things that make life less enjoyable. Even if there is no God I have lost nothing, However if there is a God and the bible is true well there may be much to lose for non-believers, the most important being the eternal damnation of his soul.

I experienced the Holy Spirit while I was giving my life to God, then it became something else. I had to start wondering how committed God is - but to only some people.

Then I find out that scripturally - all that is true. He is committed ( but not to every one) , he sends His Spirit which is called Baptism of the Spirit, and if I keep trusting Him, He will remain faithful to me.

There are many spiritual experiences that I have had, but that one was different. I am no longer wondering if God exists, I am trusting Him - and that's beyond belief - that committal.

Most people don't believe a word I just said. But they don't have to. It's difficult for people to believe in something that they never experienced. It's similar to trying to explain sex to a virgin. Sometimes there's not anything anyone can say until they actually do it!

So religion may teach a lot of things. But the relationship with God is personal. As in personal between me and Him. It can be the same for you.

Since you are obviously confused by the multitude of beleifs out there lets begin at the beginning. Let us apply the axiom of non-contradiction to all of this. Therefore we may proceed: God either exists or does not. Reincarnation either exists or does not. Goodness and Evil are either truly opposite or not. Opposite statements cannot both be true.

Now it is up to you to investigate the statements. Coming to the truth is not an easy task, but it is something that each of us must do for ourselves. Give both sides a fair chance, but the truth will only grant one side its favor.

God is everything. God is in the space between us. God is in the table in front of you. God is everything and everywhere and everyone. All is really one, the concept of the 'self' is only illuison. if people could just see beyond yourself, then they could find peace of mind. Life is one thing like water.....there are many drops that are all part of one ocean. Look at nature...an animal dies.....decomposes into the ground then grows into a nice pretty flower which is eaten by other animals who are than eaten by another animal Science and organized religion are both so far off from truth.

The Bible is truth and the only truth you can really trust, it can answer all your doubts and questions. God is real because when I asked Him He saved me and changed my whole life around, and believe me it was a miracle and could only be supernatural.

This is the Truth:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

I know that God lives and He is the creator of all things. Some will call me ignorant just because I make that claim, but I don't consider myself to be better or more important than anyone else based on my knowledge of God. In fact, there are many who don't know God but yet they live better lives than me.

Personally, I don't understand how one can think all of this came about by chance - the earth, the universe, our own selves - it all seems to be pretty strong evidence that there is an intelligent creator. But... that's actually not how I know that God lives.

The way you come to know that He lives is by first exercising faith, which implies action based on a desire to believe. Indeed, everything we do is based on faith that a desired outcome will be achieved. Utlimately, the purpose of our life on this earth is based on faith in something- whether it be in God, or in something else.

What are you living for? What are you trying to accomplish by the end of your life? Is there something after this life that we are living this life for? If you can at least desire to know the answers to these questions, you can let the desire work within you and move you to action, to prayer, to seeking truth, until you can start to feel the Spirt of God working in you.

Once you feel these swellings within you, you can know that the seed of faith you have planted was a good seed... but you cannot lay aside your faith, not until you have felt the Spirit testify to you to a point that you cannot deny it, that God lives and He loves you.

Then once you have reached this point, you can say you know that God lives, for you have felt him, and it matters not what others will say, for you know that the wisdom of God is foolishness to man, but the wisdom of man is foolishness to God. But still you cannot lay aside your faith, for until you can understand more of the mysteries of God, you are not safe in your testimony... you must continue to exercise faith by obeying the commandments of God so that you will continue to feel of His spirit guiding your lives.
