I think that they must left their senses around their holes to identify where they hid them in the springtime. I saw them used their hindleg to bury the nuts too. very educational for 3 years old. LOL

Yes, I am thinking their instincts kick in when they need to know where they hide them... but I had been told by a wildlife expert that many, many instances, they never return to some spots where they hide them & some spots will be found later on in the Spring, when humans clean up their yards!

They hide a bunch of nuts and when they are hungry they try to find the nuts but they don't always find them.

they don`t that is the whole point that is why they are so important as agents that ensure reforestation ,they may remember one third or less of the nuts they bury ,the rest germinates and grows into trees

i became into going to assert confident that we've quite a few categories of nut crackers right here as we manage pecans. Then I examine something of it and suggested OOOUCH, i be attentive to that had to wreck. yet I constantly thought that they have been 'noggin titties'. strolling around the backyard step on one, knock you on your noggin (head on your shoulders, for individuals who don't be attentive to or by no potential heard of a noggin). I found out rather speedy to 'stand' them up!

I have heard they don't. The forget were most of them are. That is how new trees grow, because those nuts are tree seeds.

The nature books I read in my childhood say that they forget and have to search hard to get any later on. You are what you eat - they are nutty.
