never expected typical instrumentation questions! Anyway I would like to reply...
Both orifice & vertex are sensing flow by obstrcuting the flow so pressure loss in sure to be there. The exact loss will depend on the velocity & reynold's number. Broadly speaking, orifice causes a higher pr. loss compared to vertex. for formulae try BS 1042, an ultimate standards in flow measurement.
