Do you mean a flash or a strobe? They are different and often confused.

A true strobe light can be set to produce multiple flashes in a brief time - makes for some interesting "stop action" photos, such as stopping a bullet.

The more common flash units used by wedding photographers and in the home are available at any camera store. Just be certain it is 100% compatible with your camera.
