I know this book is borderline "new age metaphysical", but I found it really interesting. I know ascention isn't possible, but the ideas presented in it may be able to cast a new light on Christianity. Did anyone else read this book?

Also, I'm a Catholic and I didn't feel threatned by it. I thought it was quite insightful, if fanciful. Definitely not heretic. Any thoughts on this book?

I actually read this book with my best friend at the time and got to know a lot more about him through reading this book together. We've been married for over 13 years now, so it holds a special place in my heart.
I loved it so much that I also read The Celestine Vision and the Tenth Insight.
For a similar "uplifting" read try The Way of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman.

I also read the booth and both sequels. I enjoyed the book.

Try reading about ZEN if you liked this book. ZEN is often practiced by Buddhists but there is nothing religious about ZEN. ZEN is a method of learning how to understand.

ZEN opened me up enough to understand that Christ is real and that the most important part of prayer is the quiet time spent listening for God to talk back to you when you pray.

Yes, keep your mind open, but also recognize that the book is fiction. It was written to illustrate certain concepts that the author has some experience with, but the story is fiction.
