It's probably impossible to picture, but the window is part of the dining room and part of the entryway/living room. The carpet is that old mottled beige/brown stuff from the eighties and the walls are off-white. Our couch is a sage/olivish green with beige trim around the edges of the pillows and the accent colour is red, with everything else being relatively earthy. No particular style...maybe slightly modern and slightly country?? I'm trying to decide if white curtains would look best to make it more open and airy, or if a darker colour (suggestions?) would look better to make it seems cozier. Opinions???

Since you mentioned that it is a small apartment, I would go with sheers, in any color you fancy! They're not expensive and you can change the look in seconds with another color. Just be certain they do not go to the floor...just inside the window frame is best for a more spacious look!

I would hang white sheers with solid drapery panels on each side.
