I don't have a tv( don't want to have) and i am into listening CD's only. So is it useless to have the 5.1 system just to listen to audio, i.e just for cd?

my second question is, Is there much difference between the refubricated Harman/Kordon system and the new one...atleast what is the visible/audible difference. The new one seems to cost an arm and leg...
thanks

I honestly don't blame you for not wanting a TV.

I would try to stay away from HK equipment these days. They are a VERY commercialized version of what they started out as.

For a good two channel system without breaking the bank...I would look into NAD integrated amplifiers.

My choice for a BEAUTIFUL integrated would be the following...It's a powerful (don't be fooled by the power rating), and it's audio quality is fantastic!

They sound wonderful and will introduce you into the world of audiophile....which, once you are in, there's no escape...TRUST ME!

A 5.1 system isn't for CD's, but you can use this setup with Stereo sources - if you like. The system is capable of simulating a surround sound experience from 2-channel sources.

With the HK System. Most of these are for Audio/Video. Without the Video, you're just wasting your money.

It would make more sense for you to invest a pair of good quality speakers and a 2-channel amp. Would also need a pre-amp/tuner, CD player, Turn-table etc.

The NAD Amplifier suggested by "Nibbles" is excellent.
