I posed something before about my boyfriend being offended by the abbreviation 'Xmas' even though he's not really religious and it got me thinking to other times when he was inexplicably opinionated about a particular religious issue.
x There's Xmas taking Christ out of Christmas
x He wants a manger at Christmas time
x He's actually told me that when we get married, he wants his friend, who is a PAGAN WITCH to marry us
x When we went to his Grandmother's funeral, he was a little upset that I didn't go up and accept Communion (I didn't think it would be appropriate because I'm an atheist and don't believe)
x He insisted we have a star or angel on the top of the tree (e.g. no Santa) because of something to do with the Star of Bethlehem and the Wise Men.
What is going on with him? These things are over the last 2 years so it's not all at one time, like he's all of a sudden religious, but I dont' see how you can want a Pagan Witch to marry you but youre offended by the abbreviation Xmas.

Our relationship is great otherwise and this is in no way a regular source of friction and I love him with all of my heart so i'm not gonna dump him over it. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences like this - intermittent religiousness - and what might be behind it.

He sounds very immature and, well, opinionated. I suggest that you think long and cautiously about marrying him. When a couple first gets together, it is easy to hid certain features of ones personality. However, through time, those flaw come out. As time progresses you might also see indicators that he might be controlling or even abusive.

The more important question is why are you still with him? Do you think things are going to improve? The best predictor of the future is past performance.

before you get married by the pagan make sure your friend doesnt have some mental illness. is he really obsessed by magical things ?

the x in x mas is an old symbol that meant christ
So whowver is filling people's heads with knowledge otherwise is wrong

It sounds like your 'boyfriend' is more interested in offending you than he is in you.
