I'm in my 20's and have the most overprotective, old fashioned parents...sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes...it's kinda hard...

For me to get where i am today with their trust and for them not to get paranoid...is HUGE...i'm the oldest so they STILL have the hardest time letting go (even with the littlest things 16 yr olds can do grrr) I'm a simple girl and i usually don't go along w. the crowd...i've got values and i'm a smart cookie :) Being the oldest, i've kinda had to grow up and be mature compared to others my own age but of course, they'll see something else, as "innocent".

I was planning on having some on my bday until my cousin brought it up (getting me drunk) and of course, the FREAKED...the whole "drinking" thing didn't even come up w. them 'til now and they're back to freaking out again..

HELP...is it really worth it?

Answer: No.

I drank 6 nights a week from age 16 through age 19. And I mean drank! It was illegal until I was 18, which was most of the attraction.

At age 19 I was working 45 hours a week, and going to school 3-5 nights a week. I felt so zapped of all energy, that I just stopped.

Especially nowadays with lower threshold for DUI, etc. it's just not worth taking the 1st one.

Exercise, fresh air, those are the rewards of life.

You'll never reach your full potential drinking, or even running with the crowd.

Just the fact that it's causing anguish, means it isn't worth it.

Never drink to get drunk. Only drink because you like the flavor. Most people don't. If you do just be smart about it. Being tipsy is nice but being drunk does not feel good.

To me its worth it because I love the taste of beer and I love the feeling I get after three or four, but I never get drunk. Just feeling good.

Heres how I go, if I feel like I am too drunk to drive a car safely, then I have drunken too much. That is just a rule of thumb, I don't actually drive after consuming alcohol, even though I feel as though I could safely operate a vehicle.

Is drinking worth what? It's not worth anything really, but can be a fun experience if participated in responsibly.

If you have never consumed alcohol before, taking you out on your birthday to get you drunk is more likely to get you sick, and have you feeling miserable and hungover the next day...not a good introduction to the adult world of responsible alcohol consumption.

Getting inebriated isn't well worth it. Getting reasonably tipsy is relaxing, yet i would not drink some thing i did no longer like the style of to get there. Plus, in the form you reside someplace the place it relatively is not criminal to drink at 19 and you do no longer even experience like it... yet one greater reason that's probably no longer well worth it. would not it suck to by twist of destiny get in some style of criminal hassle for some thing you have been in common terms doing to humour your acquaintances? in case you do be certain to offer it a attempt although, i desire to advise Mike's perplexing lemonade or Bailey's Irish cream in milk.

You are in your twenties and should be able to make certain decisions on your own. Having one cocktail or two isn't going to turn you into the town whore and your parents should trust you enough to let you make that call on your own. Furthermore if it is going to take something as small as a drink to break the trust they have in you then they clearly had none to begin with.

P.S. I dont know if a 19 year old who has never had a drink is qualified to give anyone advice on drinking.. but thats just me.

I'm 19 and I never drink =) not because I'm not allowed to but because I choose not to.. Think about it that way, you're gonna get drunk, you'll probably end up being sick somewhere, you won't remember half the fun you had and in the morning you'll wake up with a guaranteed hangover xD is it worth all that trouble? I don't think so.. If you want to have a drink or two withOUT getting drunk, that's up to you.. I don't drink anyway.. Not one drink and not ten.. No drinking for me XD

Happy early Birthday chicka, have fun!

Drinking is only worth it if you have a good time, there is no point getting 'drunk' if you won't enjoy it. There is a first time for everything! Its good for socializing and that.. =)

Try it out and see if you like it but be careful because as i found out if you drink to much you can make an utter fool out of yourself!!

Your cousin is trouble. And no, it is not worth it. Your parents love you and want to protect you thats all. Get your degree, a good job a place of your own and then you can do what you would like to. You sound like a very responsible young person. That's a good thing. Try and keep it that way.........

as long as u do it on special occasions its okay i think they just dont want u to get wrapped up in the partying life style which is good of them because my brothers 25 and is about to turn 26 and has been working at the same place since he was 18 and still has no idea what he wants to do w/ his life and me and our brother have plans on going to college for around 8years so we can get degrees and make the big bucks but on special occasions its good to have some fun but just not every weekend...every weekend is not something to celebrate lol its fun but u just have to have ur priorities straight and it sounds like u do =)
