Yes.
This is one of my biggest freaking pet peeves. It is NEVER okay to leave your children in the car. EVER. EVER. Some one could hit your car, break into your car, steal your car, you coul get tied up and take longer than expected in the store and they could become too hot or too cold.
This is not the same world as when our parents were coming up, its just not safe to leave children unattended EVER. EVER. People are freaking SICK.
My friends mother lost her 2 week old son because she ran in to pay for gas. Her freak of an ex kidnapped him, and it wasnt until 13 years later that she found him again.
It doesnt take a freaky ex, all it takes is a sicko who was waiting for an opporunity.
Use pay at the pump.

Legal or not, I would never take the chance of leaving my kids in the car while I even pay for gas. Just take the baby in with you.

If you pay for the gas and come right back out then I guess it's ok. But let's not take it to the extreem and go to Walmart for your weekly shopping trip! I hope that is illegle because I know a mom who does that and it makes me sick!

I don't know what the law says but I agree with most and don't think it is the best option.
I know it seems like a pain to strap and unstrap the kiddos but it only takes a second for an accident to happen.
The guilt you would have if something happened would never leave you.

never leave your child in the car alone .... its a NO NO. its alot easier to take your child in while you pay for your gas than have the heartbreak and guilt over somthing happening to your child which you could of prevented from happening!

I think it depends on age. It's common sense; if they're four or five it isn't okay, it's definitely wrong to leave a kid under three, but over eight or so if it's just for a few minutes I think it's all right.

You answered your own question. It is illegal to leave them unattended....period. Use the full serve where they pump it for you or pay at the pump.

I don't know if it is illegal, but I would never do it. People should be more concerned with the fact that their kids could be kidnapped than getting in trouble with the law.

as much of a hassle as it is to take the kids inside. especially if you have a baby, or more than one child,
would you really be able to live with yourself if you left them in the car & something happened to them?
knowing you could've stopped it by not being so lazy?
it is a pain, but it's worth it. i promise.
