Since I have been working as a chef for 15 years or so I do in fact enjoy some of the cooking shows.
The food network when it first came out was an excellent network. Now it has become a fast food hocking network for housewives (nothing personal to housewives).
When it started the personalities had to be able to cook as well as entertain, now it is entertainment and if they can actually cook it is like a bonus.
As far as what I enjoy Iron Chef America can be good, Good Eats, and the new Kitchen Nightmares just for the entertainment. The rest mostly I can do without now, as it is I have no cable as I got rid of it all about 2.5 years ago.

A number of cooking shows have run for many seasons, especially when they are sponsored by local TV stations or by public broadcasting. Many of the more popular cooking shows have had flamboyant hosts whose unique personalities have made them into celebrities.
Famous cooking shows include:
* 30 Minute Meals (Rachael Ray)
* America's Test Kitchen
* Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten)
* Celebrity Cooks
* The Cookin' Cajun
* David Rocco's Dolce Vita
* Dining Downunder (Benjamin Christie and Vic Cherikoff)
* Emeril Live (Emeril Lagasse)
* The F-Word (Gordon Ramsay)
* The French Chef (Julia Child)
* The Frugal Gourmet (Jeff Smith)
* The Galloping Gournet
* Good Eats (Alton Brown)
* Hell's Kitchen (Gordon Ramsay)
* Hell's Kitchen (US) (Gordon Ramsay)
* Hippy Gourmet
* Iron Chef
* Iron Chef America
* The Naked Chef (Jamie Oliver)
* Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (Gordon Ramsey)
* Two Fat Ladies
* Wok with Yan
* Yan Can Cook (Martin Yan)
Amongst the cooking shows, my personal favourites are David Rocco's Dolce Vita, Wok with Yan and Yan Can Cook (Martin Yan). Last but not least, the cooking show in which I really enjoyed watching and cooking is none other than The Naked Chef (Jamie Oliver).
Cheers and have a nice week ahead :)

I love watching just about any show about food or cooking, although I never make the recipes.
I just like getting new ideas, learning about new techniques, and new or different products.
I especially love the more "gourmet" type shows where actually cooking the stuff would be almost completely out of the question outside of being employed by a REALLY fancy restaurant, but it's fun to dream!
Heck, watching them cook the stuff is even better than eating it if you ask me - super low-cal! LOL

I like pretty much most of them on Food Network, just the cooking ones though, not the cake/pastry ones or the ones where they just travel around. And nothing with Bobby Flay. And I do watch to learn something new or get a new idea. But it's rare that I make anything that they've made. I also like to make fun of some of the cooks. :)

Yes I do ⺠Paula Deen or Rachel Ray. They do more cooking and less showy stuff. They get to the point and show you how it's done. Especially Paula Deen, mmmmm.... she makes some really yummy dishes and deserts ⺠I've actually made some breakfast things from the Paula Deen show. I like her seasoning powder: Salt, Pepper and Garlic Salt. â makes great seasoning on bacon! Well,good luck and take care âº

Nigella Lawson! she's my hero. I'm a cook, so I pretty much opt for the 'home cooking shows' than the usual chef stuff. Sometimes you just need a bowl of comfort food, a spoon and a place on the couch.

I watch them all the time. I don't necessarily cook what they are showing but it gives good ideas on ways you can change stuff around for a different taste.

I watch a show called good eats. He does have some recipies on it, but primarilly he teaches about techniques and all the whys? things are done the way they are. You also learn alot of the whatnots. Its a really good show.
