My husband's practice has about 5 office "girls" who are mostly older 45+. There is this one, who just started who looks to be a little "rough around the edges". This girl's job description has her taking patients into rooms, cleaning and such.
I stopped by his office today to pick something up and to use the restroom. As I was walking in there, she stopped and stared at me. This is the first time I have seen her, ever, because she's new. I usually wave and say hi to the other office girls that I have known for a while and would have introduced myself if I wasn't going into the restroom. Anyway, when I came out, no one was around, so I said bye to my husband and walked out. As I was walking out, I noticed her come to the back door (where my car was parked) and stare at me out of the back door as I drove away. Does this sound weird? I would never do something like that to someone. It just creeped me out.

... my husband was talking (about dinner or something {she was two feet away, so she heard}) to me as I went in to the restroom, so obviously I wasn't an intruder or just a patient.

She might not have known who you were and wondered why you were wandering around the office.
She might have known who you are and been curious.
She might be a lesbian and have been checking you out.
Why didn't you just stop and introduce yourself? Why didn't you just say "Hi - can I help you?" when you noticed her staring.
Its not big deal. If it happens next time you go in, speak up - you're the doctor's wife for cryin' out loud.
EDIT: she may have overheard your conversation, but it doesn't mean anyone told her who you were. OR she does and she's just curious...maybe she has a crush on your hubby...

She may have known that the doctor was married and thought maybe you were his girl on the sly or something and being a woman may have been on the defense for his "wife" which was you but she never knew - since you did go out the "back door" that to me would look a little suspicious if I had never seen or met you. Make an effort to come by with some cookies or something for everyone one day and introduce yourself to her. She may have been watching out for the "wifes" back (which is you) when this strange woman came in. You might like having a "watchdog" in the office. LOL.

Give her the benefit of the doubt. She was probably being protective of her work environmet, not knowing who you were. I think had I been you, I'd have went up to her and introduced myself. Next time, do that and it'll end any questions she may have. Think about being in her shoes, she's at work and some lady comes in and uses the restroom and leaves. May have creeped her out as well.

You should have stopped and introduced yourself and said hello. She was probably trying to figure out whether you were an intruder who came in to use the restroom. Remember: people are human.

You know, dear one, I would have just backed the car up and parked it and got out. I would have introduced myself to her and asked her if she was wanting to say something to me. Let her answer. Then say, "Well, I noticed you stared at me in the bathroom and then, I look up and you're staring at me out the back door! That's a bit 'odd' isn't it?" Let her answer. Whatever the answer, handle the situation right there. You'll be less 'creeped out' if you will address a situation when it happens. We have a way of filling our head with strange things and most of the time, they can be resolved on the spot. Good luck next time.

That fact that you call 45 year old women "girls" tells me you are an over sensitive, spoiled little prig.
I think she probably stared at you because you strutted in like you owned the place and were entitled to anything you wanted.
YOU ARE NOT. It is not your office it is your husband's, and you should show more respect to the people who work for him.
45 years old is NOT a "girl".

I would say it was probably just curiosity as to what her bosses wife looks like. Are you worried about her intentions towards your husband? If not, then maybe ask him if she is ok..
Next time you pop in just say hello and you might find she is actually nice and maybe just a little shy.

If she doesn't know you are the wife, she has the right to be curious who or what you are doing with the boss. She might even think you are the mistress.

She was probably felt threathen by you... Women who stare and are mean to other women for NO reason are usually very insecure themselves.

Are you sure she was looking at you? Perhaps she was just taking in the view. Or perhaps she was looking at you just because she was bored and you were moving.
