The only servicemen getting that kind of bonus are mid career Navy SEALS and Army Delta and Green Beret operators. There is such a shortage of experienced special operators in the military, the Pentagon has authorized six digit bonuses for these professionals. Keep in mind that those bonuses will be taxed at 28% to 32%.

UPDATE: Since some moron gave me a thumbs down for my statement, here are two links to validate what I said...

Thats a big ol' lie.
The Army gives the largest enlistment bonuses up to 20,000 for Reserve and 40,000 for Active. Everyone is deployable at some point or another (even Reserves) the dont offer incetives to GO to Iraq when your already enlisted.

Your buddy is shoveling a lot of manure, call the Army direct and ask what incentives they are giving out to join the Army and volunteer for duty in Iraq.

nope not true, the military doesnt pay you that much for anything, lol. You can get an enlistment bonus when you join and you will get hazardous duty pay while in iraq but not that much. It really depends on what rank you are going in and what rank you are when you get in iraq. They also take taxes out on your enlistment bonus.

no thats not true at all.

the most you can get by joining the army is $13,000 after taxes (enlistment bonus) and you'll be paid for about 1500-2000 a month in Iraq

He MUST be referring to his salary while on active duty. Or maybe his salary plus an enlistment bonus (which is much smaller than $100,000).

If he won't tell you, then it's probably not true. Plus, that seems like a lot of money for the army.

you should believe him even if you think that he is lying because anything is possible and your friend will probably not lie to you. The best answer will come from your friend because we cant say that that is not correct.
