It really is not that hard, is it just being lazy? trying to fit in with friends? or just plain lack of a brain? I grew up in a very poor area. (Benton Harbor, MI) and it drives me crazy, that people choose to use poor english, and form bad habits from talking this way. No one will take you seriously.

I agree entirely. Not just with English but with any given language. I think English with the amount of globalization should be first and foremost spoken well by native speakers to set an example for those who are so keen to learn it.

To me, we use a language that I consider the "American: language. Proper English? What is that anyway, and why would anyone want to indulge in the effort to utilize it? American language is so much more descriptive and colorful, "proper" English is unnecessary.
