My all time favorite is Longrow (Campbeltown). However that is impossible to find in the US. I got it as a gift from a friend in England.

Right now I'm drinking Caol Ila, which is very good.

You need to explore the various single malts, they vary widely in taste and you won't like all, but none are bad.

Lagavulin is a very peaty single malt and widely available in the US. This would be the most intense of the single malts I've ever had.

I also like Cragganmore.

I'd recommend that you start with Glenlivet, that is a fairly mainstream single malt and much much better than Johnny Walker. Drink it either neat (straight) with a water back or on a few ice cubes. No mixing allowed.
