Yes and no. Some dental schools will allow you to take the last two years of dental school and give you a degree. I know that University of Penn has this type of program. You will have to go back to school no mater what. I know personally someone who tried to do the opposite and was not allowed.

A BDS MAY BE ENOUGH IN THE UK, BUT HERE IN AMERICA YOU STILL HAVE TO GRADUATE FROM A DENTAL SCHOOL AND EARN A D.D..S OR D.M.D. DEGREE.

MDS is not compulsory. most of the dentists today practice on basis of BDS
