Oh most of these people need to get off their high horses.
"It's deeming." "It's disrespectful" "That's like calling a dog and I'm no body's *****" blah blah blah....cut me a f*cking breaking.
The only reason i would never do it is because it doesn't work. All it is is a guy telling a girl that he thinks she is attractive. Jesus, I wish every now and then a girl would wolf whistle while I go by.
Sure it is not the most effective way to get your point across but who is it hurting and some people it might make them feel good.

I don't like it because it makes me feel self-conscious. I know I'm not good-looking, so I could really do without being wolf-whistled because I know they're trying to be funny and failing miserably. I don't know, I suppose it depends on whether the guy is being an idiot or whether he does genuinely like the look of you. Though personally, I'd prefer a more subtle approach in the case of the latter.

Well I dont like it because as soon as the whistling starts I get so flustered that I either trip over or walk into someone etc lol! and I land up making a complete show of myself.

This may sound wierd but if a man is driving by and whistles but keeps passing it is one thing. But when you are walking by and say they are sitting in the van eating or taking a break on the job and you happen to walk by well, I want to take the closet thing I can find and throw it at them. Being person to person takes on another kind of feeling for me that is uncomfortable but when they just drive by it happens so fast I almost pay it no mind. Sounds wierd but thats just me.

Sometimes I like the attention, but other times it is worrying, especially if I am out, and I don't feel safe. Out in the evening, on my own, I do my best not to get it, unwanted attention can lead to more very unpleasant things, so it is best to go around unnoticed,

Because it's rude and disrespectful! It's treating me like I'm a piece of meat and not the wonderful, vibrant goddess that I am. I deserve to approached with respect and dignity. Men wolf whistle and cat call at women they think of as cheap hussies, women they want to play with, not women of quality and certainly not anyone they feel any value towards. Think about it, these same men would hit the roof if someone did that to one of their female relatives, so what does that say about their motivation when they do it to someone else? I guaranty they'd be whistling a different tune then!

They may be whistling because you look good, but they are also signaling that you aren't worth actually talking to. That whistle means "I would love to do you, but I damn sure don't want to know if there is anything going on in your head".

It's sad you don't have a bit more self-esteem. The sorts of men that wolf-whistle a woman are ignorant, tiny-minded cavemen who make be feel ashamed to be male.
A lot of women don't like it because it's demeaning, disrespectful, can be intimidating and makes them feel like public property when their privacy is invaded like that.
