Well...no. The deductible is the amount you have to pay before receiving any money from the insurance carrier. In other words, since the damage was less than $ 500, you've got to pay the entire amount. If the damage was any amount over the deductible, all you'd get is the difference between $ 500 and the actual damage. (i.e. accident causes $ 630 damage; subtract $ 500 deductible and all you'd get back is $ 130). Understand? Good luck!

No. Why would you? By that logic, if you had an accident that cost you $100, would the Insurance pay you $400, saying thank you for having an accident? If its not your fault, make sure the person responsible pays. And even if its your fault, you have to pay the entire money anyways so whats the point of involving the insurance company?

your deductible is the amount you will have to pay out-of-pocket for the repairs BEFORE your insurance covers anything. since the damage is only $300 do not worry with insurance because they are not gonna pay anything towards it and it will affect your premium amount IF this is a collision claim, if it is a comprehensive claim then it is not supposed to affect your premium. you may want to call your agent and see what the difference is in a lower deductible and what you will have to pay out of pocket for repairs, sometimes it is worth it to lower deductible and pay the increase out a couple of dollars a month than it is to have to pay a bigger sum up front for repairs. my advice is comprehensive deductible of $100 or less and most people put their collision at $250/$500. keep in mind your comprehensive covers A LOT of different damages (vandalism, ALL auto glass, hail damage, and basically anything you have no control over) make your agent sit and explain it.

When you have an accident where damage is less than your deductible you should just pay for the repair and not involve your insurance company. Even it the accident was not your fault your premium will go up and they may cancel your policy.

no. Don't even claim it on your insurance if it wasn't your fault. If you claim it your rates will go up.
