Bottled drinking water, like Dasani or Aqua Fina is regular municipal water that has been charcoal filtered to remove odors and flavors. It is processed through reverse osmosis to remove most of what is dissolved in the water. Then minerals are added back so the water tastes better.
Distilled water is made by heating any water, usually municipal tap water. The steam created condenses on cold plates and this water is collected. It is essentially pure with nothing dissolve in it. It usually tastes flat and boring and in large amounts is dangerous to drink because it pulls sodium and other electrolytes out of the body.
Lastly, spring water is water that comes from naturally occuring underground sources. It may be filtered to remove suspended solids, or treated to kill dangerous bacteria, but it gererally is not, it is usually bottled just as it comes from the ground. This is often the best tasting bottled water

I live in the Malvern Hills and I also,by law have to pay for our tap water. Now of the many springs here in Malvern I can honestly say the water from them taste of, well nothing- it's pure water. A lot of us go to the various (*100's)of spings and collect water in giant bottles - it just tastes like water should. Compare it with my tap water and i taste a lot of "stuff" I cannot identify without a chemistry set (and a chemist). My Answers to your Question: Tap Water- from a resoviour, piped to Home/Business-Charged for in England and Wales (chemically treated- must meet strict safety guidelines- but doesn't have to taste nice) Mineral water- some has been flowing 100 years through natrual networks within Mountain ranges- it's mineral content is high because of the erosion on rocks which disolve in the water as it passes them within such an area. A spring is a direct natrual water souce, the water from a spring is more likely to be free of any chemicals or minerals- you should always ask enviomental health if the water is safe even if it looks clean,if you spot a spring.. Up here our spring water is tested daily (our tourism depends on our water to some degree) - plus Coca-Cola are pumping at least half out of the Malvern Hills a year, since they took over the bottling (not a good thing really- but it does mean you don't have to visit Malvern to take the "Water Cure")

A fancy bottle. Mineral water is ment to be cleaner than tap water but alot of tests have been done to show they are the same.

mineral water is water that has come out of a spring, been purified, and bottled, and is no better really than tap water. only difference is that tap water may be 'hard' water, which means there is more calcium in it. i prefer the taste of tap water to mineral water.,

Mineral water is filtered through the rocks and sandstone, thus adding mineral. Tap water is treated and filtered artificially by man
