I know quite a bit about Freemasonry. I know that you could be a CHristian and a Freemason. But don't you think that is contradictory? Freemasonry is littered with Pagean worship. I'm not here insulting anybody, i'm just curious?

Freemasonry promotes indifferentism, the heretical (to Christians) belief that all religions are equally legitimate attempts to explain the truth about God but that this truth will never be explained. This is incompatible with Christian faith because Christians believe that God has definitively revealed Himself in the person of Jesus Christ, and desires that all men come to the knowledge of this truth.
Freemasonry's teachings and practices also result in syncretism which is the blending of different religious beliefs into a unified whole. This shown in Masonry's religious rituals, which gather men of all faiths around a common altar, and place all religious writings along side the Bible on the Masonic altar.
The Lodge's practice of requiring its members to swear immoral oaths is also incompatible with Christianity. These oaths require a Christian to swear on the Holy Bible that he will uphold a code of moral conduct that prefers Masons to non-Masons, and to preserve secret passwords and handshakes. Such oaths are immoral because they are trivial and not necessary. These oaths are sworn under penalties of physical torture and death (e.g., having my throat cut across, and my tongue torn out by its roots). These penalties show a lack of respect for God.

I am a freemason.
It is only contradictory for people that are narrow minded, whether they are Christian or not. The main problem that Christianity (and Catholicism in particular) have with freemasonry is that it allows and encourages people of different faiths to come together as equals.
If you know a lot about freemasonry, than you know it is not a religious institution, so this should not be a problem. Freemasonry is not saying that all religions are equal but that we can have different beliefs and still get along in non-religious terms and settings.
Freemasonry is not littered with any kind of worship, it is not a religious organization. no offense taken here in using "littered" to mean "a lot"...
Neither the Bush family nor the Kerry family are associated with Freemasonry and none are 33rd degree, not sure where you got that info, but it is wrong.
If you think freemasonry is a religion despite everything that has been said (elsewhere and here) then you may know a lot about freemasonry but you understand very little.
to some other responses.
* Hussein is not (was not) a freemason, again, probably the same wrong info that said the Bush/Kerry families are freemasons. Incidentally, if hussein had been a mason, there is nothing in the tenants of freemasonry that would prevent him being killed by other freemasons --- there were freemasons on both sides of the revolutionary war and the US civil war.
* there are "pagan" elements in all major religions --- Christianity is called a pagan religion that derived out of "vegetation deities" --- dies in winter and reborn in spring, just like the tomato plant. I apologize to everyone that finds that offensive, but i used a very harsh example to make a point.
* the Luciferian garbage, and it is garbage, was all born from the Taxil Hoax, called a hoax because its creator admitted he was lying about freemasonry. i guess the real joke about it is all the uneducated (on this subject) people who still believe it to be the truth. the 33rd degree is an honorary degree of the Scottish Rite an appendant body of freemasonry and is not a masonic degree, nothing beyond the 3rd degree is a part of masonry (which is defined as the 3 degrees of the blue/craft/symbolic lodge).
* iamacatholic --- what you write about how freemasonry operates is inaccurate... it is not a religious organization. the site you have there is another anti-masonic site that is full of inaccuracies and half truths meant to spread hatred, anger and lies --- none of which are things taught by Jesus.

I understand you think you are not insulting anyone with the question but you are not a Freemason and therefore have no real idea what we do or how we do it. I'm a Christian and a Freemason. Freemasonry is not "littered" with Pagan worship nor does it have a lot (does not matter how you say it, it means the same).
I have a feel you may have read too much Dan Brown and Freemasonry Watch, which has miss lead you. If, as you say you know quite a bit about Freemasonry then you would not need to ask the question.
We are not a religion (for the 1000th time) therefore no "worship" takes place in lodge.
Bush is not and NEVER has been a Freemason.

Where in the Hell are you geting your information? Freemasons hate Christians? Why would Freemason hate ANYONE? That's like saying that ANY Fraternity hates Christians. Freemasons are members of a NON-religious fraternity, that has the King James Version of the Holy Bible as it's centerpiece. The basis of Freemasonry is the building and builders of the Temple of King Solomon, you know, the dude who settled the dispute over a child between 2 moms? Go back and figure out when that was supposed to have taken place. It's a story from the OLD TESTAMENT of the Bible. Freemasons call God, the "Great Architect of The Unverse", which is what He is and was. He designed and built it all. The term is a secular, (nonreligious) term and is actually very fitting, Freemason teachings talk about the one true and living God. Referring to the Almighty himself. Although not a religion, Freemasons ARE REQUIRED to believe ina Supreme Being, i.e. God, and ALL oaths and obligation are taken in HIS name. The oaths and obligations are simple promises to keep certain MEMBERS ONLY information within the group. Sounds like MOST fraternities I know. Chris is an out and out LIAR. No where in Freemasonry or it's teachings is Satan worshiped, and he should really STOP posting trash. I have yet to see his PROOF of his statements, as the proof does not exist. The sad part is, that he KNOWS he's lying and has admitted it in the past. AS a self-proclaimed Christian, claiming to be a PASTOR, which I highly doubt is true, he should be ashamed of himself. If you want to know about Freemasons, how about asking FREEMASONS? There ARE certain things we will not discuss, but honest questions are answered honestly.

The first answer is wrong, Bush is not a Freemason, he's part of the Skull and Bones secret society. In Freemasonry it is recommended to believe in God (any God). It is understood that our most famous founding fathers were free masons. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson to name a few. No it is not littered with pagan worship, but yes it could have some pagan elements in there. As a matter of fact, when a new free mason enters the secret society, they pledge an oath and lay there hand on the Jewish bible, the Koran, and the Christian bible to show good morality and respect between all three religions.

Wow... amazing amounts of misinformation here...
As stated, Bush is not a Freemason - the last president that was a Mason was Gerald Ford.
Christianity and Freemasonry compliment each other very well... Freemasonry compliments all regular religions of the world.
Freemasonry is not a religion, but it is a religious fraternity. Lodge is opened and closed with non-denominational prayer, and you HAVE to believe in a supreme being, but you are not forced or coerced into determining what that supreme being is - often referred to as God, Masons refer to him as Grand Architect of the Universe, so as to comply with religions throughout the world.
In all lodges, a Volume of Sacred Law is prominently displayed when in session. In some cases the VSL is actually represented by having the Holy Bible, Koran Torah, Veda, or any other books held sacred to the members of the lodge. You CANNOT be an atheist and a Freemason in a regular, recognized lodge.
Freemasonry has a lot of symbolism in it, but it stems from stonemason's guilds where literacy was not common and the ability to make structures like cathedrals and arches seemed mystical, if not magical.
There is nothing in Freemasonry that conflicts with the practices, faith, or beliefs established in my Christian religion (presbyterian).
People need to stop taking Albert Pike out of context and do some real research... there is no satan worship being conducted in Blue Lodge (First through Third degrees) or any of the appendant or concordant bodies of Masonry.
"Freemasonry and Luciferianism
Freemasons have been accused by various Christian organizations of worshipping Lucifer, despite the fact that Freemasonry does not consider itself a religion, and has members from many religions including Christianity. This theory originates with the famous Taxil hoax perpetrated by Léo Taxil, who had himself been expelled from Freemasonry within months of joining. According to the theory, leading Freemason Albert Pike had addressed "The 23 Supreme Confederated Councils of the world" (Taxil's invention), instructing them that Lucifer was God, and was in opposition to the evil god Adonai. Taxil also promoted a book by Diana Vaughan (actually written by him) that purported to reveal a highly secret ruling body called the Palladium which controlled the organisation and had a Satanic agenda. As described by Freemasonry Disclosed in 1897:
With frightening cynicism, the miserable person we shall not name here [Taxil] declared before an assembly especially convened for him that for twelve years he had prepared and carried out to the end the most sacrilegious of hoaxes. We have always been careful to publish special articles concerning Palladism and Diana Vaughan. We are now giving in this issue a complete list of these articles, which can now be considered as not having existed.[4]
Despite the fraud having been revealed for over a century, Pike's spurious address and other details of the hoax continue to be quoted by anti-masonic groups.[5]
Arthur Edward Waite wrote an exposé of this hoax, titled Devil-Worship in France. Waite produces evidence that this was what today we would call a tabloid story, replete with logical and factual inconsistencies."

No, they are not contradictory in the least. First, Freemasonry has far less paganism than you might think. Second, a Freemason who is well-versed in Scottish Rite "paganism" will know *why* it is not antagonistic to Christianity in the first place. Third, how do you differentiate "paganism" from "Christianity"?
Just for the record, neither Bush nor Hussein are (were) Freemasons.

Wow, dude! You got some really bad information there. First of all, FM's were originally the Knights Templar (historically) and Christian. Second, there were only 14 US Presidents who were Masons--Saddam Hussein was NOT a Mason. Neither was Ghandi. But hey! Keep surfing the Internet! There are all kinds of conspiracy web sites out there.

Christianity is as much if not more pagan than not-pagan, so i don't see what the problem would be.
seriously. the trinity is polytheism. the idea of Jesus being divine is idolotry.
the Messiah of Judaism and the old testament, is NOT a sacrifice.
edit: and is also not God, God incarnate, or more divine than you or I. the idea of the whole man-god sacrifice thing IS pagan.
edit: how do you think christianity grew so much? it adopted pagan concepts from the surrounding world so the people would convert and not feel like they are leaving their beliefs.
and freemasonry isn't a religion. why would you think it was?
