To be fair I think dads should have to pay child support, but not to the point the dad is having to live in the street.

Actually, that sounds reasonably fair. Out of 8 dollars, he is required to support 1 1/2 people plus pay taxes and any insurance. That isn't much below what he would get if he had no children. That isn't Ohio, that is a stupid buddy.

He needs to find a better job, possibly in an uncomfortable profession like working for the state highway, in a factory or coal mine. If he isn't educated, the only real employment that pays well is either boring, dangerous or uncomfortable.

Single dads get the same services, if they are the custodial parent. It isn't the parent who gets the state's protection, it is the child. He can choose to starve, or he can get up and find better employment. That may mean moving, but dads are supposed to make sacrifices for their children. This should even be a cheerful obligation. The anger in child support comes in when people feel the other partner is getting all the benefits and they are working to provide them and they do not like the person anymore.

Fairness ended on the playground. Once you are off the playground, life is not required, nor should it be expected, to be fair.

Tell him to get off his butt and find a good job, or be happy with $150 per week.
