As long as you are not on permanent disability from a doctor, an employer can not discriminate against you due to height, weight, religion, sexual orientation, race, etc..
Dont sweat it , go to the interview and just be yourself, yet act professional..
From what you have said, there is not one reason they can refuse to hire you simply based on your bady size..only way they can turn you down is for legal matters or bad strikes against your previous employment..
GO..I am sure you will be working for them in no time.
There is also a disability act in place for people who need accomodations to do a job, within reason, who are not permanently disabled.

My sister is the same height as you and worked in a library that had kids in it all the time. You might get some people who think you are younger than you are, but if you are shaving and wearing a uniform, I really doubt anyone would mistake you for being a child.
I don't think your height is really a factor. Just watch Little People, Big World on TLC and you'll see how much little people can accomplish...and they're much smaller than you are.
I think you are just nervous about going out into the job market and using your height as an excuse. Your parents can't support you forever so now is a good time to start working. Good luck.

I agree with Fred. Have confidence in yourself and you can do the job. You are NOT too little to do this job! They can assign you to stock the lower shelves, if need be - and they can assign the higher shelves to someone else. Your boss will figure out a way to accomodate your height. Also, don't mention anything to the interviewer about being scared that you are too short to do the job. Be friendly and tell him or her how much this job would mean to you, especially since you want to help your mom with bills. Keep in mind, there are always ways to help you reach top shelves, such as step ladders, etc.... - even very tall people need to use ladders when they are stocking!

Will you be doing heavy lifting? If so, they may require that you be able to lift thirty to fifty pounds as protocol. They will not, however, or should not refuse to give you a job because of your height. That is discrimination, and it is illegal. Don't worry about it, and try to be a bit more confident. If you are nervous about it, your self-consciousness will show at the interview. You want to come off as the type of person that would be good for the job.
If you can't get the job in stock, ask if there is another opening in another department or try looking somewhere else.

I dont think they are allowed to discriminate against you because of your height. But if they could claim there was some sort of safety issue to do with you reaching stock high up etc. then maybe they might refuse you. I shouldnt worry about it go for the job, be confident about it. Use a step ladder to reach the high stuff isnt that what everyone does in toys r us anyway?

my mother-in-law was 4 feet 11, and she was able to get a job at a grocery store - on the checkout counter.
As long as you can climb step & ladders, and lift boxes, you should be fine.
Just do NOT let it get to you in the interview or they will pick up on it.

Height is not as important as a positive attitude. Try and not focus on your height as your "center", instead redirect yourself to your positive attributes. There are plenty of people out there doing physical jobs that are small. For example, at constuction sites, it is not uncommon to see very small hispanic workers doing very strenuous work. They work very hard so no one cares about their size. As for your arms being small, you can try lifting weights. For your interview make sure to dress for sucess, make eye contact, speak clearly and hold your head high....Good Luck

remember it is not how tall a man is or how short that makes him capable for any job. it is inside him, let me share a story
A balloon vendor was selling balloons near a garden, a little black boy was watching him sell the balloons, to attract customer the balloon vendor filled gas in the balloon and let it fly in the sky, as soon as he did this his sale picked up .after some time he walked up to the vendor and asked him, do you have a black balloon, the vendor said yes, the boy asked tht will the balloon go up in the sky as the other colors that he had seen fly off in the sky, the balloon vendor said, son it is not the color of the balloon that makes it fly in the sky but what is inside it that makes it fly.
So freind stop fearing and walk tall to your interview and do your best.
Cheers

I say show up dressed as an elf. You would be a shoe in any time before Christmas.
Be comfortable with who you are and embrace the things that only you can do. Forget about the things you can't do. Focus on your strengths not your weaknesses.

The only thing too little in this scenerio is your expectations of yourself. Who cares how tall you are or how long your arms are? Don't dress like a kid and you won't look like one.
