Purpose, features and functions of Windows XP?

Preferably Professional, but general XP is good.

I meainly need the purpose and functions, or if you could show me a site which explains these?

Purpose : To make more money for Micro$oft and bill gates
Features : Lots of things to play with
Functions : Crashes if not set up right, uses more resources than it should
