The page above talks about a book, "UnChristian: What A New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity," being published by Barna Group based in Cali. It says that Christians and Non-Christians agree that Christianity is anti-gay and judgmental. Most of the Non-Christians, and less than half of the Christians called Christianity hypocritical.

Read the story, then come back and tell me what you think?

I sure hope so.

Christianity, and religion in general, had an easier time of it when most communities were small and segregated. It was easier to not have your children subjected to the real world. However, these days, the Internet is allowing young people to communicate with people around the world.

They're being exposed to different ideas and beliefs. Since religion is not really based on anything real, it doesn't have that strong a pull with someone who knows more. I've debated religious people for the last twenty years, though I don't think there's an argument I've found that hasn't come up in Yahoo Answers at least three times in the last month.

Religion is based on emotional control. It plays on human insecurities to get and keep converts. That kind of control is severely weakened by an influx of outside ideas.

i am very delighted to hear that young people are finally starting to use their critical thinking and analytic skills. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how detrimental christianity is to society. However, it may take a genius christian to shut off the threats of hell and guilt of doubt to critically look at what they are committing their lives to. I am glad that our generation is showing signs of doing that

Lucky S, no judgement at all, eh? Christianity is not the opposite of naked women on videos or other self destructive behavior you may drum up. Afterall, most of the men and women charged with the most heinous crimes are leaders of the church ie priests, republican politicians. Being an atheist is not mutually the same as being selfish etc. In fact, the scariest thing about humanity to me is that they fear that without religion, they will turn against each other and resort to self destructive behavior. For people with so much faith in god they seem to be sorely lacking in faith in themselves

We may be turning off the youth but it is not us since we are just relaying what God tells us in his book of HIS opinion. Therefore, if the youth of today turns away from God's opinion of these issues then they will be judged like everyone else. We want them to hear our warning, but if they fail to hear we can't be judged in front of God as not doing our part. Yet, they will stand before him and say, "sorry I didn't believe." That will be the saddest day in their eternal lives.

The people saying all this about Christianity are full of it. Most of those people don't really give a da*n what happens to gay people, and every human on this earth, including all of them, has judged someone else by their standards. Each person has to choose their own way and there are other religions out there to explore, but if you think their animosity toward Christianity is about gay people and "being judegmental" you're wrong. A lot of religious people today do support gay people, some more than those people who want to believe they do. In the end, it is about "Girls Gone Wild" for them, gluttony, materialism, and all the other nonsense that is rampant today. These people question others, then they want to do whatever they want to do without anyone questioning them, and I garauntee you as standards become more lax, whether those standards be Christian or simply your morals that appeared out of nowhere, you'll wish you'd moved to another planet.

it is turning off the youth because it doesn't allow them to live their lives. when someone is constantly telling you "don't do ____ or you're going to hell" how is a young person supposed to live their life and make mistakes to learn from them?

wow! That truly is great news!

maybe Christians will get the message and worry more about doing what's right vs. enforcing ancient bigotries.

Yep. I think that Christians followers are doing more to push people away than atheists would ever accomplish.

In a world where sin is so vast i could see why youths are turned off of what's right. You see female practically naked parading around in videos exposing them selves like idiots in this kind of world that is to be expected.
