Sydney in February/March is warm and Cairns is even more so. It is, however, the wet time of the year in both Sydney and Cairns. March is Sydney's wettest month and you can expect rain one day in three. In Cairns you will get a lot of rain and could get tropical cyclones as the monsoon is still active then. The best months to visit northern Australia are the dry season months of May to September. April and October are usually OK.

My cousin has been to Australia several times and I believe the climate/weather is opposite of ours, so if it's Fall, it would be more like summer there now! Do u have an Atlas? Maybe you could check it out, it may have info on weather in different parts of the country.
