Once a tooth nerve is exposed or damaged, how long does it take on average for it to die? If the length of time varies significantly, how much time could I be looking at? Thanks.

The dental work I need (hereditary) has been estimated at between $10,000 (lowest estimate) and $25,000. I will not be going to the dentist. I'm a broke college student. Just want to know how long I will be living with this pain.
Thanks

I'm not a dentist, so I can't say, but since not taking proper care of your teeth can actually lead to heart problems over time, I would get to a dentist right away. Most people don't realize that our mouths are pretty good indicators of our overall health.

Here is just one source of info on the matter, although I have read others in the past: http://www.icnr.com/cs/cs_27.html

Get that tooth checked out right now. Even if it's too late to save it, you may have an underlying infection that needs to be treated.

as long as you follow proper oral hygiene you should be fine. it's just a bit sensitive when you have hot or cold drinks. you can go to a dentist and have teeth bonding to cover the exposed roots. i've had an exposed tooth root for quite some time, it doesn't seem to be getting any worse than when i first found out about it.

THERE IS NOT A REALISTIC FIGURE I CAN GIVE YOU.
WHAT I CAN SAY IS THAT THIS DISEASED NERVE WILL DIE AND THE TOOTH WILL ABSCESS.
EVENTUALLY, IT WILL BECOME LOOSE IN YOUR MOUTH AND YOU WILL LOSE IT.
WHILE ALL THIS HAPPENS BE READY TO ENDURE EXCRUCIATING PAIN UNTIL YOU DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
EVEN A COLLEGE STUDENT CAN AFFORD TO AT LEAST TAKE CARE OF JUST 1 TOOTH.
SEE A DENTIST.
