Yes, Isaiah did tell King Hezekiah he was going to die, but that was only because king Hezekiah was sitting in his bed in his sickness and not doing anything about it. Basically, God was letting Hezekiah know that if he stayed on his present course he would eventually die. Of course, Hezekiah repented and turned to the Lord. But Isaiah, prophecy was left so wide open in reference to dying. What I mean is this. God never said when Hezekiah would die, so it could have been 20 or 30 years down the road, but God chose 15. The purpose of Isaiah's prophecy from the Lord was to provoke him to repent, yet Isaiah's prophecy still came to pass, only 15 years down the road.

When making a prediction, the prediction is based on the current set of circumstances, if circumstances continue the same way, then the prediction will come to pass, but if the circumstances were to be changed, then the future changes as well. Isaiah based his prediction on the circumstances that existed, but Hezekiah repented, and so changed his circumstances, as God was pleased he repented, so he added 15 years to his life. This doesn't invalidate Isaiah's prediction, but does go to show that the future isn't set in stone, and free will allows us to change our circumstances, and set a new future in motion if we want to. Even the most psychic among us can only tell you the most probable future, based on the existing situation, the rest is up to you. Perhaps the Lord used Isaiah as a messenger, to prompt Hezekiah to clean up his act....

Did you read all of 2 Kings chp. 19-20? After Isaiah told King Hezekiah that he would die, he prayed and asked God to show him mercy. God told Isaiah to go back and tell him that he would heal him and add 15 years to his life. Many prophecies that Isaiah made before and after this came true. Also, if you read the book of Isaiah you will see many of his prophecies were fulfilled. Most notably the once pertaining to the coming of Christ. So, yes, he was a true prophet because God spoke to him about things to come and he delivered the messages.

In Isaiah 38: verses 1-4, it says( NIV) : " In those days, Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, ' This what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.' vs.(2) Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall and prayed to the Lord, ' Vs. (3) Remember, O Lord, how I walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.(4) Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah ' Go tell Hezekiah, 'This is what the Lord , the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life, And I will deliver youand this city from the hand of the King of Assyria. I will defend this city. " So, when Isaiah told Hezekiah that God said he was going to die, that was what God told Him THEN to say. But, later, after Hezekiah repented & wept & prayed to God, God told Isaiah to go tell Hezekiah that He was adding 15 years to his life, BECAUSE HE PRAYED & MEANT IT, God heard it & CHANGED HIS MIND and told Isaiah to tell him something different. Isaiah was, in each case ,doing as he was told, BUT God changed His mind because of prayer. Isaiah was therefore a true prophet. He said Hezekiah was going to die, & he did, only 15 years later.

Yes, he did because God changed His mind which He has the freedom to do. Isaiah was just sharing what God told him to say, (at the time), which is the true definition of prophecy. To prophesy means to speak on behalf of one, not predict the future, though that may be in a prophetic word.
PS. One must also remember that prophetic words are conditional, so if the receiver doesn't follow the conditions listed within them, he/she cannot count on the promised prophetic proclamations on coming to pass. Just a reminder in case you receive a personal prophetic word in the future!

Yes he did,God told him to tell Hezekiah that because he knew Hezekiah would change and thus he was granted longer time to live. It pretty much meant that if Hezekiah didn't repent then it would happen,if he did repent God would give him more time to live.

The area of the Bible you're concerning is from 2 Kings vs one million-5 In those days Hezekiah became ill and became on the element of dying. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and mentioned, "it rather is what the LORD says: placed your place so as, because of the fact which you will die; you will no longer recuperate." Hezekiah became his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, "undergo in suggestions, O LORD, how I definitely have walked till now you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have finished what's stable on your eyes." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. till now Isaiah had left the middle courtroom, the know the LORD got here to him: "bypass returned and tell Hezekiah, the chief of my people, 'it rather is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I definitely have heard your prayer and seen your tears; i will heal you. on the third day from now you will bypass as much as the temple of the LORD. Isiah dropped at Hezekiah what became going to take place he became going to die so get waiting for that adventure. Hezekiah wept & prayed to God and Isaiah went returned and advised Hezekiah how God became going to alter activities to furnish Hezekiah greater existence. there is no longer something in those activities that casts doubt on Isaish as a prophet.

yes, he heard from the Lord on this one too. it was a call to repentance. the same as with ninevah. it was given as a warning and was meant to be reacted to. if you were told today, that you were going to die tomorrow, even if there were no stipulations attached, you would likely make sure everything was alright between you and God. then if the next day came and you lived, you might count it as God's grace and mercy.
