Mountainman: Thank-you for your questions.
The first question asked was whether or not I literally believe snakes and donkeys can talk. My answer is of course. BUT...only through God.
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
God has the ability to intervene through nature, whether it be a burning bush, whirlwind, or donkey.
This is one reason why it is important to study the Bible with an open heart. It is very easy to look at Biblical text and believe it to be unreasonable, because many claims of the Bible sound rediculous on the surface. However, once we understand God's amazing power, and his amazing character, as the Bible also claims, it does not sound so crazy-like.

Cont. You asked: Am I a philosophical christian? One who believes the core of Jesus' teachings, love your neighbor, feed the poor, help those in need?
Again thanks for the question. My answer is yes, of course. I really wouldn't consider myself a true Christian if not.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." -- John 14:6 (NKJV)
This verse in scripture leads me to believe that I must accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, so that I may find truth and life, according to the Bible.
Now we have to questions to ask ourselves from here, according to the Bible. (1) How do we know whether or not we believe Jesus is our Lord and Savior, and aren't just saying we are so that we gain truth and life in Heaven? and (2) Since the Bible makes these claims, what types of evidence of the Bible gives us option to rationally put our faith in it?

To answer the first question, we must act out our faith, according to the Bible.
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26)
Therefore it would be important to me that I give to the poor, help others in need, help share the gospel, (as I am doing now) and other things Jesus' laws require me to do in order to have faith and maintain a true Christian.
This is important to know because it is often misunderstood that Christians, "push their religion onto others." Actually, it is important to spread the Word according to the Bible, and it is required of us, according to the Bible.
This text will help you better understand where we come from concerning "pushing our beliefs on others." No scrolling around needed.

2) This is where it becomes hard on the mindset of an atheist, and being a former atheist myself, I understand.
How can we belief in something we cannot prove? The answer is we can. The keyword is belief. If we instead asked, "How can we know something we cannot prove?" than it would be an easy answer; because we can't know something we cannot prove. Since we cannot say, "We know there is no God," because we both don't know everything in life, we'd have to believe in one of two things; Either we >believe< in God, or we do not >believe< in God. ...I will be back to discuss further, I have things to take care of now.

Continuing Mountainman's question: Take the analogy of the beginning of a football game. It's the first quarter and the score is 0-0 through about 5 minutes into it, the teams are pretty even. Can we know or not know, who is going to win the game? No, that is impossible, so that leaves room for only 2 other options. To believe or not to believe a certain team is going to win. So can we rationally believe or rationally not believe a certain team is going to win? The answer is obviously no. Because there is no evidence of any edge from either team. Now say it's the 4rd quarter, team 1 has 35 points and team 2 has scored 13. It would then be rational to >believe< team 1 is going to win. Because the game isn't over, we cannot prove the fact that team 1 is going to win. Therefore we cannot look for proof to reason our beliefs, what we can do however, is look at the evidence. In this example, a 35-13 lead is evidence that team 1 played better in this game.

Now let's focus the evidence of the Bible with the previous analogy's concept in mind. Is the Bible like a 1st quarter 0-0 match when compared to the evidence of other religious books or non-religious theories?

As Adam and Eve were the first and only male and female that were created, they had to commit incest with their offspring and they had to commit incest with each other. Therefore, every person commits incest with each other to procreate. Is that why you are an incestual Christian?

Basic misunderstandings: a million) Atheists don't seem to be a unified institution, they have got no average schedule to any extent further than folks that don't suppose in crystal therapy. two) Basic misunderstandings and misrepresentation of evolution. We didn't evolve from monkeys, we arose from a shared ancestor of Great Apes. three) Believing that the phrases of individuals on Yahoo Answers are consultant of a institution as a complete. In quick, many effortless trolling approaches.

How much studying of other religions did you do before you became Christian? How did you come to the conclusion that Christianity is the "true" religion before rejecting all the others?

Why was God only active in human activities before things like cameras, tape recorders, and video cameras were invented? Where'd he go?
May I ask another question? God said "Go forth and multiply." Well, we did that. What's next?

To get to that belief did you have to ignore all science, or just the parts that contradicted with a 1600 year old book that says the earth is flat and the sun revolves around it?
